It’s A Jurassic World @ Plaza Singapura: VR Experiences, Movie Screenings, and More

This June, Plaza Singapura’s Main Atrium gets transported over 65 million years into the past, with the hulking beasts of the prehistoric era emerging from deep slumber to walk the Earth once again – that’s right, the dinosaurs return once again to greet unsuspecting shoppers and patrons, and this year, Plaza Singapura has put up something extra special for everyone.

Live the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom adventure right in Plaza Singapura this June holidays, with the debut of our beloved Jurassic World star – a life-size replica of the protagonist – Blue. Get up close and be amazed by the stunningly realistic sculpture of Blue, who is the only surviving Velociraptor in Jurassic World. I’d hurry to grab your pictures and pose with the lovable protagonist of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, as there will definitely hordes of fans eager to meet Blue too.

Embark on a journey with Blue through Isla Nublar with the Samsung Gear VR Experiential Zone, in a two-part short feature of the island and its inhabitants, which includes a footage that is exclusive from the actual film release. I found the short feature done especially well, and I recommend everyone to check it out. A surreal, mystical walk awaits your eyes, so do not miss out!

If that’s not enough to satiate your thirst for dinosaurs, Universal Studios Singapore (USS) will also be showing a sneak preview of their all new Jurassic World: Explore & Roar! show, and it features a very special meet-and-greet opportunity with a young raptor.

Fans of the film series who wish to catch the Raptor and other live dinosaurs up close can visit USS to experience an adventure of a lifetime. From 2 June to 22 August, get up close with beasts like the T-Rex, Velociraptor and more at the live action show, augmented reality experience, and the interactive raptor training programme. Drop by USS while you can before the dinosaurs are gone!

Back at Plaza Singapura, one can try their hands at Jurassic World’s Pinball over at the Gaming Zone, which is largely a film-inspired rendition of the classic arcade favourite. Featuring iconic moments from the films, any enthusiastic gamers should definitely have a go at setting a new high score. Perhaps you can even beat mine, if you’re up to it.

Children dreaming of becoming budding archaeologists can kickstart their aspirations by hunting for fossils at the Sandpit Excavation Site, and the very best who manage to score themselves some bones get to keep a pack of dinosaur trading cards from the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom movie. With 5 cards released each week, and a total of 15 cards that can be collected, do come back to make sure that you don’t miss out!

Both Hamleys Singapore and Bricks World are presenting the chance for you to take home new and exclusive Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom toys and merchandise from brands like Mattel, LEGO, and much more. Not just that, you can also play a part in building a massive LEGO T-Rex sculpture that consists of a total of 90,000 bricks! I’ve built my share – now’s your turn to contribute your share too.

The fun doesn’t end here: if you’re feeling lucky, the Mini Oreo Cup Contest booth will test your guesstimation skills and luck for the day – all you need to do is to guess the correct number of cups displayed and you might be one of three winners to win an official Jurassic World Adventure Set and a Mini Oreo product hamper worth $250!

On the other hand, if you want to feel like you’ve already won, check out the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited on display – a modern-day build of the original Jeep Wrangler YJ Sahara that starred in the original Jurassic Park movie. The iconic Jeep will be present throughout the entire event, and it is definitely a masterpiece one should check out if you happen to be around Plaza Singapura’s vicinity. I managed to be one of the lucky ones to sit inside, and it certainly felt like a vehicle made for winners.
