Contribute to danamic.

danamic. publishes contributed pieces alongside the work of our own writers: first-hand accounts, opinion, guides and reporting on food, lifestyle, arts, music, tech, gaming and events in Singapore and the region. If you have a story we should be telling, or a perspective our readers should hear, we would like to read it. This page explains what we look for, how to submit, and what happens next.

What we look for

We accept all types of written submissions as a way to showcase different perspectives on news events and topics: a review of something you ate, played, watched or used; a guide built on your own experience; an opinion piece that argues a clear point; or reporting on something happening in your part of Singapore. What we cannot take is a piece written to promote a product, a business or a client. If a brand is paying you to write it, that is sponsored content and goes through our Advertise page instead. We also have to pass on pieces that do not fit our audience or our Editorial Standards.

Submission guidelines

To give your submission the best chance, please keep to the following:

  • Introduce yourself in one line. This will be published with your piece.
  • Use your real name. Pseudonyms are not accepted. Include your occupation and contact details (email and mobile number). Your contact details will not be released without your consent.
  • Show your sources. For fact-checking, include references (web links, books, official documents) for every assertion you make.
  • Aim for 500 to 800 words. Drafts of any length within reason will be considered.
  • Send original work. Contributed articles must be your own and unpublished on any other platform, including your own blog and social media accounts. Images must be yours or used with permission, with credits.
  • Declare any connection. Tell us about any relationship you have with the people, businesses or brands in your piece, and about anything you received (a meal, tickets, a product) in the course of writing it. We will disclose it where our standards require.
  • Expect edits. danamic. reserves the right to edit your article for clarity, accuracy, style and tone.

What happens next

An editor reads every submission. If we would like to run your piece, you will hear from us within five working days; if you have not heard back by then, feel free to offer it elsewhere. Published pieces appear under your byline on danamic.org, are shared on our Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and Telegram channels, and are syndicated to Google News, Flipboard and, where available, Apple News. Contributors follow the same standards as our staff, and corrections to a contributed piece are handled the way our Editorial Standards describe.

Where to send it

Email your piece to hello@danamic.org with the subject line “Contribution”. Paste the text into the email or attach a document, and send images as attachments or a link. Press releases and media invites are a different thing: those go to press@danamic.org.
