Join the fun and unleash your inner foodie at the Singapore Food Festival 2023, happening from 19 to 30 July at the Bayfront Event Space, where the most diverse and delicious flavours of Singapore at the food festival await you. A mouth-watering celebration of the best and most celebrated culinary experiences — from traditional classics to new and innovative dishes — you’ll want to get your taste buds ready for this!

Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the media preview of the Singapore Food Festival, where some of the participating brands showcased their delectable dishes. Thankfully, I came on an empty stomach and could devour the widespread food showcased! Here are some exciting brands which will be offering new or SFF-exclusive items you should look out for at the festival.

Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery X Dearborn Granola

Singapore Food Festival: Sour Bombe
The bombolinis were the bombe!

Start your mornings right with Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery X Dearborn Granola’s all-day breakfast menu, specially curated by Chef Gen of the Sour Bombe team and Chef Chris from Dearborn, where I tried out the chef picks’ bombes. If you’re a nut lover, you should try the Blue Planet by Chef Gen. On the other hand, the PB&J by Chef Chris is a breakfast classic.

You can also unleash your creativity by building your very own bombe to cater to your own tastebuds. But that’s not all; your bombes also come with a Granola cup by Dearborn Granola to ensure you get the hearty meal you need!

Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery is also bringing old-school treats back as the Bombes Of Nostalgia, such as the White Rabbit and Classic Tauhuey, will be available at the festival. So head over to the Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery booth at the festival for a trip back to the good old days!

Le Matin Patisserie

Singapore Food Festival: Le Matin
Sprinkle some sugar into your life

Still trying to decide what to gift a loved one? Le Matin Patisserie has come up with a solution to solve your problem. Introducing the SFF-Exclusive Le Matin’s Mignardise Gift Box, which consists of the Lemon Myrtle Madeleine, Caramelized Apple Stroopwafel, Ispahan Pate De Fruit, Calisson, Chocolate Cookie and Brown Sugar Palmier, all in one. Every single pastry was crafted to perfection and only left me wanting more of each and every one of them.

This gift box will be perfect for all the sweet tooths out there, with its varied flavours. Trust me when I say that you cannot get enough of every single one of this sugary goodness! So if you’ve been feeling blue, you can also sprinkle some sugar into your life by getting your hands on the gift box!

Kausmo For Ah Hua Kelong

Singapore Food Festival: Kausmo For Ah Hua Kelong
Something fishy is cooking up.

Calling all seafood lovers! Kausmo and Ah Hua Kelong have joined hands to create a range of exquisite dishes that utilise local produce to promote umami and refreshing flavours. For the upcoming Singapore Food Festival, they will be introducing three whole exciting SFF-exclusive dishes.

One of them is the Charred Snapper with Local Nuoc and Pumpkin Fusilli, and the produce used here was refreshing as I could taste the burst of flavours after just one bite of the fish. Every ingredient, from the main star of this dish; the fish, to the garnish, was delicious as you can taste the burst of flavours in just one spoonful.

So don’t forget to keep your eyes wide open and look out for Kausmo For Ah Hua Kelong to try some juicy fresh seafood dishes with a twist!

The Black Hole Group

Singapore Food Festival: The Black Hole Group
Spec-taco-ular!

The Black Hole Group is widely known for their various restaurants, such as The Working Title, offering a variety of delicious food from each establishment. I can see why they’re popular after trying out some of their classic dishes. Not only are they halal-certified, but they take food variety to a whole new level as each restaurant offers different cuisines.

For instance, the crispy shell of the Double Cheezeburga Taco was loaded with juicy Angus beef, cheese, and vegetables and drizzled with their top-secret Special Saus! A bite of the taco will make you realise why the sauce is kept a secret. Trust me when I say this is one of the best tacos I have ever tasted!

The Black Hole Group will also introduce not just the Double Cheezeburga Taco but twelve SFF-exclusive dishes in total! So don’t walk; run to the SFF to fill your hungry tummies.

Ji Xiang Ang Ku Kueh

Singapore Food Festival: Ji Xiang Ang Ku Kueh
Also known as the Red Turtle Cake, Ji Xiang Ang Ku Kueh is also offering an Hae Bi Hiam version (centre) of the classic snack

When it comes to Ang Ku Kueh many Singaporeans might know of Ji Xiang Ang Ku Kueh. Ji Xiang Confectionery started its business from a kitchen in an HDB flat at Everton, where they started selling only two flavours: peanut and sweet bean paste. As soon as they garnered a following, they set up their Everton Park space in 1988.

The SFF-exclusive Hae Bi Hiam Ang Ku Kueh or also known as Spicy Dried Shrimp Sambal Ang Ku Kueh was an exciting combination. The savoury dessert had a mixture of spicy and salty flavours and even a lingering umami taste.

But have you ever wondered how these are made? Find out and try for yourself at the festival, as they will hold an Ang Ku Keuh Making Workshop. Get your hands on and discover the history behind the traditional dessert.
