On Thursday, 9 May 2019, Pizza Hut launched its Sweet Potato Stuffed Crust pizzas and two sweet potato dishes. In an increasingly complicated and overwhelming world of foodie fads and choices, Pizza Hut invites its customers to delight themselves in a “slice of simple”.
Served only in Hawaiian and Spicy Hawaiian pizzas, the Sweet Potato Stuffed Crust sees a thick crust stuffed with oozing cheese and satisfying sweet potato mousse. The sweetness of the Hawaiian pizza – topped with chicken ham, pineapple pieces and parmesan – pairs perfectly with the savoury thick crust. However, adding cheese into the crust may have slightly overwhelmed the taste of the sweet potato mousse.
The Spicy Hawaiian pizza takes things up a notch with the addition of its newly-improved juicy chicken chunks – from its popular Sweet ‘n’ Spicy Drumlets – finished with a generous glaze of house buffalo sauce. The pairing of Spicy Hawaiian with sweet potato mousse may not have worked out as well as I had hoped it would, but it definitely deserves a try for its delectable chicken chunks.
In addition to the Sweet Potato Stuffed Crust Pizzas, two other sweet potato dishes have also been curated for the dine-in crowd – Sweet Potato Beef Stew and Sweet Potato Waffle Fries.
The Sweet Potato Waffle Fries is the first of its kind in Singapore and is topped with icing sugar for that extra dash of sweetness. Meanwhile, The Sweet Potato Beef Stew sees tender beef chunks cooked with carrots and mushrooms in a rich gravy, married with smooth sweet potato mash, cheddar, mozzarella and parsley.
