Avengers Endgame: Thanos Demands Your Silence

Tomorrow, it all comes to an end. The highly-anticipated movie from Marvel StudiosAvengers: Endgame – will premiere on Wednesday, 24 April 2019, in Singapore. While many of us may have been able to snag a ticket for screenings on the first day, there are also fans who were only able to grab tickets to screenings for the first week; maybe even later.

Gold Class tickets at Golden Village are all sold out!

Let’s also not forget that – despite the film’s premiere screening today at the US – Avengers: Endgame only releases on 24 and 25 April 2019 in the UK and in the US respectively.

Hence, it comes as no surprise that directors Anthony and Joseph Russo posted a letter on Twitter, addressed to Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) supporters who have followed the franchise since more than a decade ago.

“When you see Endgame in the coming weeks, please don’t spoil it for others, the same way you wouldn’t want it spoiled for you,” said the Russo brothers in the letter.

Fans have also gone on to make memes such as “Be like Doctor Strange”, who – in Avengers: Infinity War – had seen over fourteen million possible conclusions to the fight.

If anything at all, MCU fans should ban together at keeping spoilers at bay so that our fellow fans will not fall victim to scalpers. You’ve probably seen them all over social media – screenshots of Carousell users selling Avengers: Endgame for as high as $500 per ticket.

The movie will definitely be running in cinemas for a long time, given its obvious popularity. Hence, fans are encouraged to purchase the tickets directly from retailing cinemas instead of forking out more money that could be used for better purposes – maybe use that money to get yourself some Marvel merchandise?

Avenge The Fallen

At Avengers: Infinity War, we were all prepared to face the death of one – perhaps two – of our favourite MCU characters. But it was a swift blow when Thanos snapped his fingers and half of our beloved MCU characters died turned to dust.

So, who exactly are the fallen? Here’s our list of main MCU characters who were confirmed to be dead or dusted at the end of Infinity war, as well as some side characters whose ‘Dead or Alive’ status is still unknown.

Dead or Dusted:

Loki

endgame - loki

First one off the list, Loki died right at the beginning of Infinity War. After a failed attempt at killing Thanos, our beloved God of Mischief was strangled to death by Thanos, who made it clear that there were “no resurrections this time”.

Most of the Guardians

endgame - guardians

Not long after Gamora was sacrificed for the Soul stone, the rest of the Guardians – save for Rocket – turned to dust after the snap. Did anyone else realize that Groot and Rocket were fighting all the while in Infinity War without knowing about Gamora’s death?

Hope Pym, Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne

pre-endgame - Hope Pym
Hope Pym

This took me by surprise – I did not see it coming! The mid-credits scene sees Scott Lang traveling into the Quantum Realm with the aid of Hope and her parents, Hank and Janet. What started with light-hearted gags ended with Hope and her parents turning to dust, leaving Scott stranded in the Quantum Realm.

T’Challa and Shuri

endgame - black panther

Wakanda lost both its king and princess after the snap, leaving the country without a leader. Perhaps Okoye will step up to the game?

Vision and Wanda Maximoff

endgame - vision & wanda

This couple’s tragedy comes second to that of Peter Quill and Gamora, but it’s heart-wrenching all the same. After contemplating for most of the movie, Wanda finally destroys the Infinity stone in Vision’s head. Despite her painful decision, Thanos uses the Time stone to revive Vision and the Infinity stone, and forcefully takes the Infinity stone for himself, killing Vision in the process. Wanda is last seen mourning over Vision – so much so that she didn’t really realize she was turning to dust.

Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson

Two of Cap’s best friends – dusted. Need I say more?

Doctor Strange

pre-endgame - Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange supposedly saw over fourteen million ways this could have ended and said the only way to win was to give up the time stone. Was he right? And if so, did he see his own demise coming? Perhaps the only chance of winning that he foresaw was removing Thanos’ gauntlet, which failed.

Peter Parker

I guess what’s worse than disintegrating into dust is having a sixth sense that you will be turning into dust. In this case, our neighbourhood Spiderman’s spider sense was more of a bane than a boon. Oh, and this scene got Tom Holland fangirls tearing up – if they weren’t already bawling their eyes out.

Nick Fury and Maria Hill

pre-endgame - Nick Fury
Nick Fury

Shown in the post-credits scene of Infinity War, Nick Fury and Maria Hill get caught up in the aftermath of the snap. When Fury notices Maria turning to dust, he quickly sends out an S.O.S., during which he realizes he’s next. Thankfully, he pushed the button before he completely turned to dust (and he managed to get half a swear word out – typical Fury).

Status Unknown:

Scott Lang and Clint Barton’s families

It is not shown in Avengers: Infinity War or in the Endgame trailers, but it has been implied that Ant-Man and Hawkeye’s families turned to dust.

The trailer shows Scott Lang clearly disoriented and alone, which is why he turned to the Avengers for help. Meanwhile, Clint Barton is seen to take on a grim persona. Coupled with what seems like flashbacks in the trailer, it’s safe to assume that his family was part of the half that didn’t make it.

The Ghost (Ant-Man and the Wasp) and the Vulture (Spiderman: Homecoming)

Our heroes need all the help they can get, so what’s not to say that our once villains may return as allies?

Mary Jane (MJ) and Ned (Spiderman: Homecoming)

pre-endgame - mj and ned

While there aren’t any updates on MJ, the Russo brothers have stated that revealing the ‘dusted or alive’ status of Ned will be a spoiler in the MCU. Maybe we’ll see Ned helping to avenge his good ‘ol bud?

Luis, Dave and Kurt (Ant-Man/Ant-Man and the Wasp)

Speaking of good buds, whatever happened to these three guys? We last saw them leading a pretty successful security firm in Ant-Man and the Wasp, but there have been no updates on them since the snap. Here’s to hoping Scott’s lackeys will return in Endgame!

Korg and Miek

Everyone’s favourite duo from Thor: Ragnarok have also been classified to have spoiler-worthy statuses. Hopefully, we’ll get to see this quirky duo in the fight to defeat Thanos.

Nakia

The Russo brothers neither gave the status of Nakia’s existence, nor commented that she was a spoiler. As for her whereabouts since Infinity War, the brothers claim that she was deep, undercover on a secret mission. Could it be linked to Thanos and the Endgame? Or will we not see Nakia at all? Personally, I hope to see her fight alongside our heroes in Endgame – she’s a badass and she definitely deserves some screen time.

Goose (Captain Marvel)

We last saw this adorable yet formidable furball at the post-credits scene of Captain Marvel, at Nick Fury’s office. No one knows what happened to Goose since then, let alone if it survived the snap. It definitely wouldn’t hurt to have Goose join the team in their journey to Thanos – that is, if it’s still alive at all.

Avengers: Endgame starts screening across all cinemas in Singapore from 24 April 2019, and tickets can be purchased via the cinemas’ respecting ticketing platforms. And remember, Thanos demands your silence.
