Quick Beats: Music Events for January 2019

The year has only just begun, but music events in Singapore for the first month of 2019 are already in full swing! 12 Jan The Vienna Boys Choir: Fly With Me

The world-renowned Vienna Boys Choir returns to Singapore for a special one-night only concert. Singaporeans can show their support for local talent as well – among their choristers are two Singaporean boys, Muqian (11 years old) and Mateo (12 years old), who will perform in their only Vienna Boys Choir concert on home ground. Expect a smorgasbord of music from six centuries – with highlights by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Strauss. This is your chance to listen to Austria’s youngest ambassadors of music!

12 Jan Taeyeon’s Solo Concert

Multi-award winning singer Taeyeon will be performing in Singapore for a full-length concert ever since her solo debut in 2015. ‘s…Taeyeon Concert is Taeyeon’s second tour, which is themed after “sensibility”. Tickets are still on sale but are expected to sell out fast – just like her sold-out venues at Bangkok and Manila.

18 Jan Elephant Gym

Jan Concerts - Elephant Gym

Formed in 2012, Elephant Gym is a bass-driven, math rock band from Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The band consists of siblings Tell and Tif on guitars and bass respectively, as well as Chia-Chin on drums. Elephant Gym is best known for their clear and memorable bass lines, emotional guitar riffs, and melodic drumming in their mostly instrumental song production.

Relive the best of ‘00s alternative rock with global rock superstars, Taking Back Sunday! From the band’s landmark 2002 debut, Tell All Your Friends, to their most recent full-length, 2016’s Tidal Wave, Taking Back Sunday has evolved from a key player in the early 2000s emo scene to a genre-defying rock band. This performance is definitely a must-go for fans as they will be able to hear two newly recorded songs, which hint at the direction that Taking Back Sunday is heading in the coming years.

Taiwanese singer, Angela Zhang, returns to Singapore for her new “Journey”「 旅程 」 World Tour 2019. “Journey” is said to reflect the story of Angela’s life, which includes a chapter spent in Singapore with her family when she was a teenager. Angela’s concert in Singapore will include chart-topping hits from her musical career and will feature arrangements of classic hits, spectacular dance choreography and costume changes on each leg of the tour.

19 JanBTS World Tour ‘Love Yourself’ Singapore

BTS, who have been unanimously dubbed the world’s biggest boy band, will make their grand return to Singapore for their first solo concert in over four years for the BTS World Tour ‘Love Yourself’. The K-pop mega-group will be making history in Singapore this January as the first Korean act to ever play at the iconic National Stadium! The sold-out performance will have plenty to offer fans in Singapore, including songs from their chart-topping albums to solo performances from each of the members.

Jamaican-American reggae fusion singer and rapper, Sean Kingston, will be coming to Singapore on 26 January 2019 for an exclusive performance at BANG BANG. With three Teen Choice awards, a MOBO award, and an MTV Music Video Award in his armoury, the globally acclaimed superstar will take over BANG BANG with performances of his smash hits including ‘Fire Burning’ and ‘Beautiful Girls’, both of which have dominated radio waves and online platforms over recent years.
