What A Feelin5: Sparkle and Splendor at Jewel Changi Airport’s 5th Anniversary Celebrations

Can you believe it has been 5 years since the opening of Jewel Changi Airport? Where has the time gone? In light of this, I have some good news to share! Under the theme of “What A Feelin5”, Jewel is pulling out all the stops for its 5th anniversary to present a calendar jam-packed with special events, Jewel-exclusive retail offers, and fresh visitor experiences, including an all-new behind-the-scenes tour!

If you’re dying to know what the anniversary bash has to offer, I’ve got all the details! Follow me as I take you through the irresistible offers, events, and experiences you won’t want to miss out on!

New Light & Music showcase and behind-the-scenes tour

Without fail, each time I visit Jewel, I must always make a quick detour to Jewel’s mesmerising Light & Music showcase to marvel over how the Jewel Rain Vortex is bathed in a kaleidoscope of colours. And it’s about to get better!

From 17 April 2024, Jewel is premiering a brand-new five-minute Light & Music showcase until May 2024. Created by world-renowned water feature designer WET, the new showcase features unique elements of Jewel, like its impressive dome shape and rich nature, amid musical tunes to get the party started! WET is also responsible for creating the famed Dubai Fountain, the world’s tallest performing fountain, so that’s another reason to be excited about their involvement.

The jewel in the crown has to be the all-new Light & Music showcase!

Beyond the Light & Music showcase, remember the behind-the-scenes tour I was gushing about? Well, the tour (to be revealed in the second half of this year) will offer a peek into the elaborate mechanisms that go into how the world’s tallest indoor waterfall works its magic. Entitled “In the Eye of the Jewel Rain Vortex”, the tour brings you exclusive access to views from the inside of the fountain, the first time this perspective of the fountain is accessible to the general public!

Aside from viewing the fountain’s inner workings, a part of the programme will also showcase the work that prepares the shopping mall’s recreational paradise, Canopy Park, for operations every morning. Talk about a two-in-one deal that is too good to be true!

Marquee Events

Remember Jewel Blooms? After a successful run last year, it returns to Canopy Park from 24 May to 11 August 2024. Be transported into a floral heaven blooming with spellbinding installations and enchanting kinetic flowers inspired by various emotions of happiness, peace, love, passion, and adventurous discovery that visitors may feel when visiting Jewel.

As part of Jewel Blooms, a massive floral artwork created using fresh and preserved flowers, will be displayed at the Petal Garden house. This artwork is a special collaboration with award-winning Singaporean garden designer Andy Eng and Japanese floral artist Megumi Shinozaki, famed for her sustainable works.

And if you would like to unleash your flower power, the Youth Floral Cup, a floral design competition, will return on 24 May 2024, with 50 slots opened for budding florists aged 7 to 12. Young floral design enthusiasts can take this opportunity to showcase their skills and originality in this floral arrangement contest and stand a chance to take home attractive prizes worth S$1000!

Exclusive Retail, Dining, and In-store Perks

Jewel’s 5th anniversary celebrations don’t stop there! As part of the anniversary, expect more than 50 perks across retail, dining, and in-store experiences specially selected in collaboration with Jewel’s tenants.

While unsurprisingly, there are attractive discounts and offers, such as the 15% off offer with a minimum purchase of 5 items at Godiva Chocolatier, selected retailers are also introducing exclusive merchandise and collections exclusive to Jewel for a limited time!

It wouldn’t be a proper celebration of Jewel without new bling, right? That’s why Asian Artistry Fine Jewellery’s launch of the Jadeite Pendant, a limited edition bespoke jade piece inspired by the Jewel Rain Vortex, is perfect for this special occasion!

Upon closer inspection, the pendant is a gorgeous piece featuring a design in the shape of Jewel’s famous indoor waterfall and set with five sparkling diamonds. So take this chance to celebrate Jewel’s anniversary in style with this unique piece you can’t find anywhere else!

Meanwhile, Starbucks is offering its Singapore Landmarks Cold Cup, which features a lid celebrating the Rain Vortex and prints of iconic local landmarks like the Merlion and Gardens By The Bay’s Supertree Grove on the cup itself. Now you can make drinking your daily cuppa a luxurious affair! The cold cup is exclusively offered in Singapore, so get your hands on it before it’s too late!

Hungry for more? Foodies are in for a treat, as there will be exclusive bites to taste as part of the festivities. One comes from Burger & Lobster, whose Cereal Lobster has grilled lobster infused with a medley of spices, coated in crispy toasted cereal for that satisfying crunch and layer of texture. Just thinking of it already makes my stomach rumble!

Another mouthwatering indulgence not to be missed is Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery’s Bejeweled Bombe, a bomboloni (Italian-filled doughnut) generously loaded with heavenly vanilla bean chantilly and a glossy popping candy chocolate coating to set off mini fireworks of sweetness in your mouth!

I could keep raving about all the other menu items, but it will never end, so head over to Jewel’s website for the complete list of available retail and dining offers!

New Store Openings

You didn’t think that’s all there is for the festivities, did you? For all my shopaholics, Jewel is welcoming various store openings to its collection of retail stores in May and June this year! Both international and local gems will be gracing the mall, such as homegrown fashion label CHARLES & KEITH, who will be opening their first flagship store at Jewel at Basement 1.

FILA is another established brand opening its first flagship store in Singapore at Jewel, making a duplex store its new home at Level 2. But there’s even more! Fellow fashion brand Bimba Y Lola is also launching a store. At more than 1,600 sqft, this makes it their largest store in Singapore! Last but certainly not least, get unique customisation services and fulfil your headwear needs from New Era, who are opening their doors on Level 2.

Those are names we all know and love; how about brand-new stores to explore? IPOH TOWN, new to the food scene, is debuting at Jewel, serving delectable traditional Ipoh dishes for your tastebuds to sample and savour! Meanwhile, health nuts can look forward to another new kid on the block, Nai Xue, with its healthy tea beverages that are just as delicious as they are nutritious. And if you’re familiar with the name Royal Host, you’d know it’s one of the most beloved restaurants in Japan. The good news is that it’s now arriving in Singapore with its first outlet in Jewel!

Other non-food related brands that are also new and equally noteworthy include Chinese fashion brand SETIROM, and Satellite Paris, a Parisian brand focused on handcrafted jewellery that is enduring and enchanting!

Jewel Gives Back to the Community

What better way to tie together the celebrations than to give back to society? To mark the commencement of their 5th-anniversary bash, Jewel partnered with Metta Welfare Association (Metta), a non-profit organisation in Singapore, in a Charity Dinner held on 17 April 2024.

Proceeds from the event and auctions were donated to the noble cause of developing the new Maitri School/Building project that will be ready for opening by 2028. This also marks the second Special Education School Metta has set up to support students with moderate to severe Autism Spectrum Disorder.

During the Charity Dinner, 12 auction items were sponsored by the mall’s tenants themselves, such as a limited-edition Louis Erard x seconde/seconde x Watches of Switzerland — Long Awaited Event and a BE@RBRICK FLOR@ collectable with a gorgeous red rose bouquet encased in the figure’s transparent torso.

These coveted items were made available for bidding by guests participating in the auction. If you missed out on the event, selected items are still free to bid by members of the public from now until 21 April 2024. By bidding on these selected items, you can make a difference in the community while scoring some fantastic merchandise!

If you wish to bid on selected items from Jewel and Metta’s charity event, check out Metta’s website!
