If rojak could sing, it’ll only sing local music
It’s absolutely mind-boggling how much local music has transcended over the years that it’s difficult to form opinions surrounding it since any conclusion gathered becomes obsolete quickly. I’ve been a fan for 15 years now, but *pfft*, it’s still not enough to scratch the surface of our music. So anyway, danamic. kick-jolted me from my slumber, hypnic jerk-style – requesting a write-up out of the Spotify playlist they created called ‘Local Delights’ (which sounds like a canteen tuckshop from your primary school days). However, a confession before I get into the meat of the article though: danamic. didn’t really specify…

PAUZA’s new track ‘Jungle Fever’ channels Afro-Cuban sounds with jungle-inspired melody
Enchanting, electronic Cuban duo PAUZA released their fourth track for the year, ‘Jungle Fever’, on 19 July 2019 (Friday). The track sees the powerhouse duo fuse their signature Cuban grooves with a mesmerizing jungle-inspired melody. Paula and Zahira, who are also the first female duo of electronic music from La Habana, Cuba, have re-interpreted the cultural current of house music by adding Latin rhythms and Cuban folklore. This unique trait has given them an edge above the rest, as seen with their growing popularity. “We channelled afro-Cuban sounds created from within the mountains that surround our island,” shared PAUZA. “Throughout…

LOUDNESS performed a vigorous set, but may be way past their prime
Japanese Heavy Metal Legends LOUDNESS took to The Pavilion at Far East Square on Sunday, 16 June 2019, for a powerful performance. The band’s performance in Singapore was held as part of their Rise to Glory World Tour – named after their album of the same name. Singaporean fans were probably the envy of fans in Japan due to the choice of venue. The Pavilion was a relatively small space with an intimate setting, which contrasted with LOUDNESS’ stadium shows in Japan. AC/DC music played before the concert, and at just before 8pm, Minoru Niihara, Akira Takasaki, Masayoshi Yamashita and…

In the days leading up to Ultra Singapore 2019, the organizers announced that the festival would be moved indoors due to “expected severe weather”. This year saw a change in venue from Ultra Park to the Sands Expo and Convention Centre. Albeit its smaller venue and downscaled stage designs and pyrotechnics, the festival was still able to rile the crowd with…
