Editorial Standards & Policies

danamic. is a Singapore-based digital publication covering food, lifestyle, arts, music, tech, gaming and events. This page sets out how we work: how stories are chosen and reported, how we handle partnerships and advertising, how we use technology, and how to reach us when we get something wrong. It applies to everything published on danamic.org and to our content wherever it is syndicated (Google News, Apple News, Flipboard, Telegram and our social channels).

Our mission

We exist to inform, educate and empower a community that wants real, honest and relevant coverage of life in Singapore and the region. We write for readers first. We aim to be useful before we aim to be first, and we would rather publish a smaller number of stories we can stand behind than chase volume.

Editorial independence

Editorial decisions are made by the editorial team alone. Advertisers, sponsors, PR agencies and brands do not decide what we cover, how we cover it, or what a review concludes. Commercial relationships are handled separately from editorial and are disclosed on the content they relate to (see Sponsored content, partnerships and affiliate links).

Accuracy and sourcing

  • First-hand where possible. Our event, dining, travel and product coverage is based on our writers attending, eating, visiting or using the thing in question. Where a piece is based on a media release or a preview rather than first-hand experience, we say so.
  • Verifiable facts. Prices, dates, opening hours, addresses, specifications and availability are checked against the organiser, venue, brand or an official source at the time of publication. We link to primary sources where they exist.
  • Clear attribution. Quotes are attributed. Claims that come from a brand or organiser are presented as their claims, not ours.
  • Time-sensitive information. Guides and event listings carry a publication date and, when materially revised, an “Updated” date. Details can change after publication; readers should confirm with the organiser before making plans, and we welcome corrections (see Corrections and updates).
  • Original work. We do not plagiarise. Images are our own, supplied by the organiser or brand, or used with permission and credited.

Reviews and ratings

Our reviews reflect the honest opinion of the writer after using the product, eating at the restaurant, or attending the event. Review units, tasting sessions and event access are frequently provided by brands or organisers; that does not buy a positive verdict and is disclosed in the piece. Scores and verdicts are never sold, and no brand sees or approves a review before publication. Brands may be offered a check of factual details before publication, never editorial approval.

Sponsored content, partnerships and affiliate links

  • Sponsored content is paid for by a partner and is labelled as such (“Sponsored”, “In partnership with” or “Brought to you by”) at the top of the article. It is written to our editorial standards and we retain final say on wording.
  • Hosted experiences. When travel, accommodation, meals or tickets are provided by a third party, the article says so.
  • Affiliate links. We do not currently take part in affiliate programmes. If that changes, the articles concerned will carry a disclosure and this page will be updated.
  • Advertising on danamic.org is served separately from editorial content and is visually distinguishable from it. Advertising enquiries: see Advertise with danamic.

How we use AI

Every article on danamic.org is written and edited by a person and is published under a human byline who is responsible for it. We may use AI tools to help with routine tasks such as drafting headline options, meta descriptions, transcribing interviews, proofreading and translation. We do not publish AI-generated articles, reviews or images presented as real photographs. Where an AI-generated illustration is used, it is labelled.

Ethics and conflicts of interest

  • Writers do not cover businesses they, or their immediate family, own or work for, and declare any personal relationship with a subject to the editor.
  • Gifts and hospitality beyond what is needed to report a story are declined or disclosed.
  • We honour embargoes we have agreed to, and we do not trade coverage for access.
  • We treat the people we write about fairly, give a right of reply on contested claims, and take particular care with minors and with anyone who did not seek publicity.
  • We comply with Singapore law and with the platform policies of the services that distribute our work.

Corrections and updates

We correct errors promptly and transparently. If you spot a mistake, email [email protected] with the article link and what is wrong; we aim to respond within five working days. Every correction we make is listed, dated, on our corrections page.

  • Factual errors are corrected in the article, and a note at the end of the piece describes what was changed and when.
  • Minor fixes (typos, formatting, broken links) are made without a note.
  • Updates. When an event is postponed, a venue closes, a price changes or a product is updated, we revise the article and show an updated date. Older guides are periodically reviewed and refreshed.
  • Removal. We do not remove accurate published articles on request. We will consider removal or anonymisation where there is a legal requirement or a serious risk of harm to a private individual.

Feedback and complaints

Story tips, feedback about our coverage and complaints about our conduct all go to [email protected], or via our contact page. Complaints are reviewed by an editor who was not involved in the piece where possible. Unresolved complaints can be escalated to the Editor-in-Chief at [email protected].

Ownership and funding

danamic.org is published by DANAMIC PTE. LTD., a private limited company incorporated in Singapore (UEN 201815375Z) on 7 May 2018. The site began in 2004 as a web development portal and has operated as an editorial publication since. DANAMIC is part of a collective that includes DNMC Creative and its production subsidiaries. The company is privately held by its directors. We are funded by advertising, sponsored content and partnerships. We receive no funding from any government, political party or political organisation.

Who writes for us

Articles written by an individual carry that writer’s byline. Pieces produced collectively by the editorial team, or adapted from media releases and official announcements, are credited to The DANAMIC Team; where a piece is based on a release rather than first-hand reporting, the text says so. Our editors and regular contributors are listed on The DANAMIC Team page, and each author page lists that writer’s work. We accept external contributions under the terms on our Contribute page; contributors follow the same standards as staff.
