Christine and the Queens is back today, Thursday, 5 November 2026, with a single released twice: Rendez-vous avec toi in French and Rendez-vous in your arms in English, both out via Because Music.
The pair also kicks off a run of four small December shows in Europe, which the label lists as sold out. Most of us will be watching the live dates from afar, but the song is yours to put on repeat right now.
Same Song, Different Story
Putting out a French track and its English counterpart on the same day is a familiar move for the French artist. Read the two lyric sheets side by side, though, and it’s clear the English version is a rewrite rather than a word-for-word translation.
The French chorus goes “J’ai rendez-vous avec toi ce soir / J’aimerais t’enlacer dans le noir”, roughly “I have a date with you tonight, I’d like to hold you in the dark”. In English it becomes “A rendez vous in your arms, tonight / A wish and a kiss in the dark”. Some images change completely. “Cowboy macadam / Le gun est partout pointé” (a street cowboy, a gun pointed everywhere) turns into “Their guns, no control – so how about we escape”. In the outro, “tes deux bras qui dérapent” (your two arms slipping loose) becomes “those weird steps that you like”, which is a sweeter, goofier image.
That’s the best argument for playing them back to back. Each language gets its own version of the same night, so the English track works more like a companion piece than a subtitle, and fans who only listen to one will miss half the fun!
Built for the Dance Floor
The track is described as “exultant and luminous”, a song “about giving in to desire and tenderness, about the night lovers find each other again”. That’s a very different opening from the slow, theatrical mood of his most recent albums.
Christine and the Queens’ own note on the song reads like a diary entry: “I have a rendez-vous with you, tonight / I have obsessed about it since the morning.” He also lists what fed the sound: “In secrecy of frequencies, in genius musicians, in New York Jazz, in Moroder Groove”. That last one points to Giorgio Moroder, the producer behind much of disco’s synth-driven pulse. The line that stands out most is “Names, boxes, they never defined what we share together”, coming from an artist whose identity has never stayed in one box for long.
Watch It Before You Stream It
The music video is co-directed by Christine and the Queens and Raphaël De Albuquerque, with choreography by Alexander Ekman, and it was shot in Paris.
If you’re choosing where to start, start with the video. Christine and the Queens has always been as much about movement as melody, and a song that “refuses to let you sit down” makes most sense when you can see the bodies moving to it. Expect the choreography to turn up in clips on your feed soon enough.
Where He’s Been Lately
For anyone who lost track, the last few years have been busy. There was Hopecore (2024), described as “a ferocious, self-produced exploration of desire”, and the Catching Feelings extended play (EP) with French disco figure Cerrone.
What makes Rendez-vous feel like a reset is the framing. The label is presenting it as the start of what the label calls “a cosmic, sensory new era”, with a disco single as the opening statement.
Four Small Shows in Europe
Here’s the bittersweet bit: the label lists the December shows as sold out, and Christine and the Queens will play them with a full band.
He names the band himself: Vincent Taeger, Vincent Taurelle, Adrian Edeline and Karl Onibuje. “The shows with my audience are the highlights of my life,” he says. “We knew we had to reunite with our audience before anything else, in more intimate venues, for a true moment of music played live, felt and shared.” He adds that the band will “give a first listen to unreleased songs from the next album”, so the people in those rooms will hear the spring record before everyone else.
For fans in Singapore, these dates are less a booking opportunity and more a clue. A small European run before a spring album usually comes before a bigger tour, so keep watching the official channels for whatever comes next.
