Your Dusty Racket Can Now Get Restrung Without a Labour Fee at 5 Wilson Stores

If there’s a tennis racket in your cupboard whose strings went slack around the last time you played, Wilson will now restring it at any of its five Singapore stores without charging for the labour. The initiative is called Stringing Across the City, and it accepts rackets of any brand, so the only thing you might pay for is the string itself.

For many lapsed players, the hardest part of returning to tennis is the errand: finding a stringer, working out what to ask for, and paying for a job on a racket you’re not sure you’ll use again. With the fee gone, one of the better excuses for leaving it in the cupboard another year goes with it.

At a glance:
– What’s free: The professional stringing service fee, for tennis rackets of any brand
– What you might pay for: Strings, unless you bring your own
– How to book: Submit a request online and wait for the store to confirm
– How long it takes: Usually within seven working days

What You Pay, and What You Don’t

You bring in a tennis racket of any brand, then either hand over your own strings or buy Wilson strings in-store, and the professional stringing service fee is waived. The service runs through Avid Sports, Wilson’s authorised distributor for Southeast Asia and the company that operates its direct-to-consumer stores here.

So “free” comes with an asterisk. Wilson waives the labour, but the string still costs money unless you bring your own.

The bring-your-own option is the generous part. If you already have a favourite string, or a half-used reel at home, carry it in and you pay nothing at all.

How Booking Works

1. Submit a request online through Wilson Singapore’s stringing service page.
2. Wait for the store to confirm your slot. Sending a request isn’t the same as a guaranteed appointment.
3. Drop off your racket (plus your own strings, if you’re bringing them).
4. Collect it, usually within seven working days, though timing varies by store.

That makes this a good fit if you’re dusting off a racket for next month’s social game, and a poor one if you snapped a string the night before a match. Need it back tomorrow? Look elsewhere. Can wait a week? It’s hard to beat on price.

Wilson’s page also names three Singapore-based certified stringers: Chai Houi Mian, Kenneth Loh Chun Kiat and Vania Dewi Widjaja. For a beginner, that’s reassuring. Someone trained will be handling the tension, which is the bit most people don’t know how to ask about.

Tip: If you’re unsure what tension to request, say so at drop-off. It beats guessing a number from a forum thread and then wondering why every shot sails into the next court.

Which Store Should You Pick?

All five stores sit in malls, which is where the “Across the City” name comes from. Because the turnaround is up to seven working days, you’ll make two trips either way, so pick a mall you already visit.

StoreHandy if you…
Jewel Changi AirportLive in the east
IMM, Jurong EastLive in the west and want to skip the trek into town
Raffles City, North Bridge RoadWork in town and can drop off at lunch
ION OrchardWork in town and can drop off at lunch
VivoCity, HarbourFrontAlready have a Sentosa outing planned

Players up north in places like Woodlands or Yishun don’t have a store close to home, so pair the drop-off with a mall run you were already planning.

Part of a Bigger Tennis Push

Stringing Across the City doesn’t stand alone. In September 2026, Avid Sports announced multi-year partnerships with The Kallang Group and the Singapore Tennis Association (STA), including player and coach development pathways and initiatives for the wider tennis community.

Under that deal, Wilson is the Official Venue Partner of Kallang Tennis Hub, complete with a dedicated Wilson Pro Shop. It was also the Official Ball Partner of the 2026 Singapore Tennis Open presented by BNP Paribas. Wilson ran complimentary stringing for rackets of any brand at a pop-up during that tournament too, so this new initiative takes that idea out of the stadium and into the malls.

So pull that racket out from behind the vacuum cleaner, pick whichever mall you’re visiting anyway, and let a trained stringer get it court-ready for the price of a set of strings, or for nothing if you bring your own. Head to Wilson Singapore’s stringing service page to send in your request and choose your store. The vacuum cleaner can have the cupboard to itself.
