Haw Ror Villa 5! is back from the dead at Haw Par Villa for 22 nights until 15 November 2026, with tickets via hawrorvilla.com and SG Culture Pass credits accepted for Singaporeans: hawrorvilla.com marks the event “Culture Pass Eligible”.
The haunt is run by Hell’s Museum, the museum inside the park that bills itself as the world’s first and only museum on death and the afterlife across all the major world religions. It opened on 8 October and runs on selected evenings from 6.30pm to midnight, so the first nights are already gone.
Back From the Dead
If you’ve never wandered through it, Haw Par Villa is an 8.5-hectare Asian cultural park on Pasir Panjang Road, packed with Buddhist and Taoist sculptures. It was built in 1937 by brothers Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par, the family behind Tiger Balm, and the park was formerly known as the Tiger Balm Garden. Anyone who saw its graphic depictions of the underworld on a school trip will tell you the place never needed much help to feel eerie, so a Halloween event here plays on a reputation the park already has.
This year’s haunt spreads its scares over four zones, not three.
Four Zones, One Cursed Invitation
The story picks up one year after Haw Ror Villa 4!, when a mysterious cult set up headquarters in the park and opened a portal to Hell. In the fiction, the villa has seemed abandoned ever since, until people start getting letters that promise “unimaginable riches, the delights of the flesh, or the fame you’ve always craved” to anyone who turns up. You got one too, naturally, and you go anyway.
Hell’s Museum says the four zones share one connected narrative, and that the Aw family’s own history gets “brought back from the dead in shocking fashion” along the way. Here’s how the night unfolds:
- Zone 1: Guide to Sin City walks you through the park’s vices, punishments and rewards, and it sets up the story for everything that follows.
- Zone 2: Gateway to Hell is an interactive puzzle hunt where Hell’s Museum has become an arena for tormented souls fighting for the right to leave the park unscathed.
- Zone 3: The Haunted Labyrinth is a maze in near-darkness, filled with footsteps that aren’t yours, malicious laughter and growls from things you’d rather not meet.
- Zone 4: The Point of No Return sends you to the back of the park, where something evil has woken up and you have to find your way out before it’s too late.
Where to Spend Your Nerve
If you’re picking a highlight to build your group’s night around, go for Gateway to Hell. A puzzle hunt turns you from a victim into a player, and solving clues with your friends while ghosts lurk nearby makes for better stories (and better Instagram Stories) than another corridor of jump scares.
Returning fans should look forward to The Haunted Labyrinth the most. It’s slower and lonelier, the kind where you start blaming your friends for every sound behind you. The Point of No Return works as the finale, but the labyrinth is where this edition separates itself from the last one.
The Ghosts Who Never Left
The organisers are bringing back last year’s most popular characters “one more time,” including the authentic Asian ghosts Pocong and Pontianak, the Hungry Ghost, and the Lead Detective from last year’s Murder Mystery. Expect them to show up when you least expect it, with Hell’s Museum’s own warning to come prepared to scream, “oops… I meant, sing!”
This folklore focus is what sets Haw Ror Villa apart from Universal Studios Singapore’s Halloween Horror Nights. At Haw Par Villa, the scares come from ghosts your grandmother warned you about, staged in a park whose statues have spent 89 years depicting the afterlife. For a local crowd, that hits closer to home than any Hollywood monster.
