Vietjet‘s three-day sale is open now and closes at the end of 10 October 2026, with Eco fares from S$86 one-way between Singapore and Vietnam, taxes and fees included. Further down the same announcement sits the part worth a second look: a new Ho Chi Minh City–Maldives service, which the airline plans to launch on 5 December 2026.
The two halves of that news aren’t the same offer, though, and anyone planning a tropical escape on a student budget should know where one stops and the other starts. The S$86 figure is for Singapore–Vietnam routes, which means flights from Singapore to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc. The Maldives service starts in Ho Chi Minh City, so a Singapore traveller has to get there first.
The Maths at S$86
Take the headline price at face value first. A return trip at the lowest fare is S$86 × 2, which comes to S$172 per person, and a couple booking together pays S$172 × 2, or S$344. A group of four friends flying from Singapore to Da Nang would spend S$172 × 4, a total of S$688 before anyone adds a bag.
That word from matters, because S$86 is the floor and most dates will sit above it. Vietjet says “millions” of promotional Eco tickets are in the sale across its network. Flexible travellers get the cheap seats, and anyone locked into a long weekend should expect to pay more.
Same Floor, Longer Runway
Regular readers will recognise the number. Vietjet’s week-long August promotion started at S$86, and so did the 9.9 sale that ran until 10 September. Three sales in three months at the same starting price suggests this floor comes around often, so missing this one is unlikely to mean missing S$86 for good.
What has changed is the travel window. August’s promotion covered trips up to 31 March 2027, while this one stretches from 8 October 2026 to 30 September 2027, a full six months longer. That puts the June holidays and most of next summer within reach of sale pricing, which is the real reason to open the app or Vietjet’s website this week.

Eco or Deluxe?
The second offer is 20% off Deluxe base fares on Singapore–Vietnam routes. Vietjet’s own promotional artwork lists what Deluxe carries: up to 20kg of checked baggage, free itinerary changes, and free seat selection.
The discount is worked out on the base fare alone, so taxes and fees are charged in full on top. The saving on the final total therefore lands below 20%.
Eco suits the backpack-only weekender who knows the dates won’t move. Deluxe makes more sense for anyone checking a bag, or anyone whose leave hasn’t been approved yet, because free itinerary changes are worth real money when plans wobble.
The Maldives from Singapore
Now for the dream, and the catch for anyone starting in Singapore. A Singapore traveller would fly to Ho Chi Minh City first, then connect, so the Singapore leg has to line up with the days the Maldives flight runs. Vietjet plans three round trips a week between Ho Chi Minh City and the Maldives via Colombo in Sri Lanka, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Nha Trang, Prague, and Almaty
For a Singapore reader, the pick of the new routes is the least exotic one. Vietjet’s direct Singapore–Nha Trang service is scheduled from 11 December 2026, and it needs no connection to reach a coastal city known for beaches and island excursions.
The rest of the expansion departs from Vietnam, not Singapore. Hanoi–Almaty and Hanoi–Prague both launch on 10 October 2026, and Vietjet’s announcement puts Prague at two return flights a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, via Almaty. Services from Ho Chi Minh City to Clark in the Philippines and Chiang Mai in Thailand are due later in October. Prague via Hanoi and Almaty is a fun story for the group chat, but Nha Trang is the route people will use.

Read These Before You Pay
- Blackout dates may apply. The travel period runs from 8 October 2026 to 30 September 2027, but not every date inside it is guaranteed to carry a sale fare.
- The S$86 price is for Singapore–Vietnam routes. It is a one-way Eco fare to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, or Phu Quoc. The Maldives service starts in Ho Chi Minh City and is a separate part of the announcement.
- Add-ons vary. Scoot’s Economy Basic terms exclude checked baggage, seat selection, and meals as well, so this is standard budget-carrier practice. The cost depends on route, weight, and where the add-on is bought, so check it at booking before comparing Eco with Deluxe.
- Launch dates are airline plans. New routes can shift, so hold off on non-refundable hotels until the flight is confirmed.
Nervous first-timers may like to know that Vietjet says it holds a seven-star safety rating from airlineratings.com, the rating body’s own site, where the claim can be checked.
🗓️ Date: 8 to 10 October 2026

The sensible play is to treat this sale as a S$172 return to Vietnam with a much longer calendar attached, and to treat the Maldives as a two-step trip that starts in Ho Chi Minh City. Check dates and compare Eco against Deluxe on Vietjet’s website before the sale closes on 10 October 2026.
