Is Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Worth a Rewatch? It Streams on Crunchyroll From 11 October 2026

Goku’s first run-in with a god is getting a second take, and viewers in Singapore won’t have to wait for it. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is set to start streaming on Crunchyroll from Sunday, 11 October 2026, with subtitles. Southeast Asia is on the launch list alongside North America, Europe, and India, so viewers here get it in the same wave as everyone else.

The quick version:

  • What: An enhanced edition of a storyline Dragon Ball Super has already told, not a new season
  • When: From Sunday, 11 October 2026
  • Where: Crunchyroll, with Southeast Asia in the launch wave
  • Language: Subtitled only, for now
  • To do before then: Check your Crunchyroll plan and add the series to your watchlist

The series is an enhanced edition of a storyline Dragon Ball Super has already told, which makes it a retelling rather than a new season. Toei Animation is producing it with what the studio calls both enhanced and all-new animation and visuals, working from creator Akira Toriyama’s original story and character designs. Anyone hoping for a continuation should adjust expectations now, though there’s a good case for tuning in anyway.

A God Wakes Up Cranky

The setup is simple enough for a first-timer to follow without homework. Several years after the fight against Majin Buu, Earth is enjoying a rare stretch of peace when Beerus, the God of Destruction, wakes from a long, deep sleep. He can wipe out entire planets, and the official synopsis has even the Kai and Supreme Kai watching his awakening with great fear.

Beerus then hears rumours of a Saiyan who defeated Frieza, and that’s all the invitation he needs to turn up in front of Goku unannounced. The synopsis bills him as the strongest being in the universe. That leaves Earth as the stake in a fight its greatest hero has no obvious way of winning.

Why This Arc, of All Arcs

Of everything in Dragon Ball Super, this is the stretch that makes the most sense to rebuild. It introduced the Gods of Destruction and the Super Saiyan God form. It moved the series past the old Saiyan-versus-Frieza power scale into something far more cosmic, and every later storyline leans on that foundation. Polish it up, and the whole show gets a better starting point.

The franchise is hardly short of goodwill either. A story with that kind of standing deserves an opening chapter that looks the part.

Remaster, Remake, or Something Between?

Dragon Ball has done this before. The closest precedent is Dragon Ball Z Kai, which re-edited Dragon Ball Z into a tighter version with a refreshed presentation. Toei’s promise of all-new animation for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus suggests a bigger job than a trim and a clean-up.

Fans have been arguing over what to call it. On Reddit, the general read is that this is an enhanced remaster or a condensed retelling, and that it stops short of a full remake. Some are thrilled at a sharper version of a favourite fight, while others would rather the studio spent that effort on something new.

Both camps have a point, and the sceptics’ question is fair: why revisit a story that already exists? The honest answer is that a fresh story would be the bigger event, but a better-looking Beerus arc is an easier recommendation to a friend who’s never watched Dragon Ball Super. That friend is who this release serves best.

The Names Behind the Glow-Up

Two voices anchor the whole thing. Masako Nozawa returns as Son Goku and Kōichi Yamadera is back as Beerus, so the new visuals arrive with the performances long-time fans already know.

Behind the scenes, the credit to watch is Tadayoshi Yamamuro, listed for animation character design and as general animation director. On a project sold on how it looks, that role decides whether the upgrade lands. Matsuto Seya handles composition and direction arrangement, and Norihito Sumitomo is credited for the music.

Subs Only, for Now

The one catch for some viewers is language, because the announcement covers a subtitled stream and nothing else. Dub loyalists will be reading along for the time being, which is a small price for getting the show in the first wave.

Planning Your October Watchlist

October is turning into a heavy month for Toei titles on the platform as well. According to Crunchyroll, Episodes 326 to 746 of ONE PIECE arrive in Southeast Asia on 25 October, two weeks after Beerus lands. Here’s how the month lines up for viewers in this region:

  • Sunday, 11 October: Dragon Ball Super: Beerus starts streaming on Crunchyroll, subtitled
  • 25 October: Episodes 326 to 746 of ONE PIECE arrive in Southeast Asia

Anyone building a watchlist around that can cross-check it against DANAMIC’s Crunchyroll Fall 2026 anime guide.

So, Is It Worth a Rewatch?

  • Never watched Dragon Ball Super? Yes. This is the friendliest way yet into the modern era of the franchise.
  • Returning fan? Yes, if seeing a favourite fight with enhanced and all-new animation is enough of a draw. Just don’t expect a continuation.
  • Dub loyalist? You’ll be reading subtitles for the time being.
  • Only here for something new? The sceptics have a point: a fresh story would be the bigger event.

🗓️ Date: From Sunday, 11 October 2026
📍 Location: Crunchyroll, across Southeast Asia
💬 Language: Subtitled
🎙️ Cast: Masako Nozawa as Son Goku, Kōichi Yamadera as Beerus
🎬 Production: Toei Animation, from Akira Toriyama’s original story and character designs

Our verdict is that this one earns its place on the list, more for the friend you’ve been trying to convert than for the fan who already knows how the fight ends. Add it to your watchlist on Crunchyroll before 11 October, and keep an eye on Toei Animation for whatever the studio powers up next!
