Citrawarna Speed Festival 2026 closed on Sunday, 4 October 2026 with a 100-car Lamborghini convoy that was flagged off from IOI City Mall, Putrajaya, at 12 noon and driven to Sepang International Circuit (SIC). The night before, the same mall hosted the Colours of Parade, the festival’s cultural high point.
For anyone in Singapore weighing a trip north during Visit Malaysia 2026-2027 (VM2026-2027), the weekend is a fair preview of how Tourism Malaysia stages a big event. It put dancers and supercars at the same mall, on back-to-back days, and its other venues were at the airport itself: Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 and Sama-Sama Hotel KLIA.

If You’re Planning a Trip From Singapore
- Can you still go? No. The festival ended on Sunday, 4 October 2026, after a 12-day run that began on 23 September.
- What’s still running: The VM2026-2027 campaign, which has more than a year left.
- Where to find the next event: Tourism Malaysia’s website and its Malaysia Truly Asia TikTok. Check both for dates, venues and any ticketing before you book travel.
- Venues to know: IOI City Mall Putrajaya, KLIA Terminal 1, Sama-Sama Hotel KLIA and Sepang International Circuit in Selangor.
- What the rest of the festival offered: The sim racing, the craft stations, and the airport and hotel venues were all in our guide to the festival’s final week, so this recap sticks to the closing weekend.
Two things ended the run: a parade on Saturday night and a supercar send-off on Sunday.
Saturday Night Belonged to the Dancers
The Colours of Parade took over IOI City Mall Putrajaya on Saturday, 3 October 2026, with performances representing the Northern, Central, Southern and East Coast regions alongside Sabah and Sarawak. It’s the half of the festival to envy if you care more about costumes than carbon fibre, because nothing else on the programme put that many traditions in one place.

The programme billed performances by the Orang Asli, Chinese, Indian, Sikh and Siamese communities as well, backed by Nusantara percussion and a brass band, before a Citrawarna and VM2026-2027 finale. That’s a long list for one night, and it explains why the organisers called the parade the festival’s key highlight.
The organiser’s photographs give a sense of the scale. One shows three drummers in tall white feathered headdresses and gold-trimmed black uniforms mid-performance, and another catches dancers in yellow and blue in front of a giant LED screen.
The guest list was a senior one. The parade was graced by Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Chief Secretary to the Government, and Chiew Choon Man, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture. Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Chairman of Tourism Malaysia, and Dato’ Lee Yeow Chor, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of IOI Corporation Berhad, attended too.
What stands out more than the VIP row is the crowd in the wide shots, which runs to thousands of spectators, at a show staged at a shopping mall rather than a stadium.
Sunday’s 12 Noon Flag-Off
The last day went to the Konvoi Eksklusif Lamborghini 2026, run with Lamborghini Owners Malaysia (LOM), a registered association of Lamborghini owners and car enthusiasts. The convoy was flagged off from IOI City Mall, Putrajaya, at 12 noon.

From there the cars followed a coordinated route to Sepang International Circuit in Selangor. They were then parked up as an open-air exhibition for the public, motorsport enthusiasts, and international visitors.
Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, Political Secretary to the Minister of Finance, officiated the flag-off with Dato’ Shaharuddin Abu Sohot, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, who had been at the parade the night before. Mohd Akbal Setia, who heads the VM2026-2027 Secretariat, was among the guests, as were LOM President Roslan Rosdi and Angela Mak of YES Travel & Holidays.

The cars in the photographs come in orange, yellow, lime green, and red, with barely a quiet colour in the line. One yellow-and-grey car wears EKOX EXHAUST branding, with a red one parked behind it.
Look closely at the yellow cars in the convoy photographs and you’ll spot VM2026-2027 stickers on the bodywork. That means 100 supercars on the road to Sepang double as 100 moving billboards for the tourism campaign.
The festival ran under two themes, “Art, Culture, Speed, Together” and “Malaysia Moves Together”, and the closing weekend lived up to the pairing. Culture had Saturday night, speed had Sunday noon, and both started from the same mall.
The Tourism Maths Behind It
Tourism Malaysia tied the festival to its visitor figures. Malaysia recorded 28.8 million international travellers between January and August 2026, up 1.8 per cent from 28.2 million in the same months of 2025. Domestic travel is growing faster, with 151.6 million domestic visitors in the first half of 2026, a 5.6 per cent rise from 143.5 million.
The agency expects events like this one to bring business to hotels, restaurants, and shops around Putrajaya and Sepang. It points to the Tourism Satellite Account 2025, which puts tourism’s contribution at 15.9 per cent of Malaysia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), or RM323.0 billion in gross value added.
