From Tuesday, 6 October 2026, Singapore shoppers can buy five Dyson hair tools in a new Plum and Copper colourway at all Dyson Stores and on Dyson.com.sg. Prices run from S$599 to S$899. With the year-end holidays closing in, Dyson is clearly angling for a spot under the Christmas tree, whether the wish list is yours or belongs to someone you’re shopping for.
The colour story is the fun part. Dyson says the palette is inspired by kyawthuite, a gemstone known for its “near-mythical rarity,” with only one natural specimen known on Earth. That makes it an unusual (and rather clever) mood board for a hair dryer.

The Rock With No Twin
Kyawthuite’s backstory reads like a treasure hunt. In January 2010, a water-worn crystal turned up in the alluvial gem deposits at Chaung-gyi-ah-le-ywa, about 5km north-northeast of Mogok, Myanmar. A miner sold it to Dr Kyaw Thu, a Burmese gemologist, who realised it matched no gemstone he knew and sent it off for analysis.

His hunch paid off. The International Mineralogical Association (IMA), the body that decides what counts as a new mineral, approved kyawthuite as a new species in 2015, and the mineral carries his name. The cut stone weighs 1.61 carats and sits in the Department of Mineral Sciences at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. No second natural specimen has ever turned up, so that one small stone is the entire world supply.
Dyson’s take on the colour blends warm metallics: red plum, peach copper and ash ginger. It lands closer to mulled wine than candy-apple red. That gives it a better shot than most gadget colourways at still looking good on a dresser long after the tinsel comes down.

Honest Talk: Which One to Buy
There are five devices and five price tags, and most people will only buy one, so here’s a plain guide to what each tool is good for and who should skip it. All prices are Dyson’s listed Singapore retail prices for the limited-edition Plum and Copper versions.
For most people, the Supersonic Nural (S$599) is the safe bet. Everybody dries their hair, and its sensor measures the distance to the scalp to keep the temperature steady, which makes it hard to use badly. It also remembers the last setting used with each attachment, a small convenience you stop noticing because it never gets in the way.

The Supersonic r (S$649) suits someone who is always packing a bag. Dyson says it’s 30% smaller and 20% lighter than the original Supersonic, and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors in each attachment adjust heat and airflow on their own. Is that worth S$50 more than the Nural? For a frequent traveller, yes. If the dryer never leaves the bathroom, keep the change.
The Airwrap Co-anda 2x (S$899) is the splurge, and there’s a good argument for it. Dyson says its Hyperdymium 2 motor pushes out twice the air pressure for faster drying and easier wrapping. It handles six jobs: dry, curl, wave, straighten, smooth and volumise. If the person on your list styles their hair most mornings, the extra S$300 over the Nural pays off quickly.

The Airwrap i.d. (S$799) gives you curls without the learning curve. It pairs over Bluetooth, so you can save a hair profile and have it wrap, dry and set curls at the push of a button. It’s a lovely gift for the friend who gave up after one wobbly attempt at curling. A patient learner, though, gets more out of the Co-anda 2x for S$100 extra.
The Airstrait (S$599) is the easiest call of the lot. It straightens hair from wet using air alone, and Dyson says it cuts drying and styling time by an average of 25%. Buy it for someone who wears their hair sleek most days. If they live for waves, skip it, because it’ll gather dust.
Two Stars, Four Festive Looks
Fronting the campaign are K-pop idol Jang Won Young and Korean actor Park Bo Gum. Both are Dyson Asia Pacific ambassadors, and they wear the new colourway across four looks that Dyson has broken down into step-by-step routines.

Bo Gum starts relaxed. For his textured fringe, he dries with the Supersonic Nural and its Gentle air attachment while lifting the roots with his fingers. The Styling concentrator and a barrel brush then add shape and movement, and a final cold shot sets everything in place.
His dressier option is a swept-back look on the Airwrap Co-anda 2x. He pre-dries with the Fast Dryer 2x attachment, then uses the Conical curling barrel to direct the hair back and away from the face. One loose section falls across his forehead, which keeps the look from going stiff.
Won Young covers both ends of the styling spectrum. Her sleek, straight look starts on wet, detangled hair, with the Airstrait’s arms clamped together to pre-dry the roots. She then works small sections through on Wet mode until dry, and finishes with Dyson’s Omega hydrating hair oil for shine.

Her soft glam waves are the more romantic choice, and they run on the Airwrap Co-anda 2x too. The Fast Dryer 2x attachment takes her roots to about 80% dry, and the Conical barrel curls each section away from the face. A detangling comb loosens the curls into waves, and Dyson’s Chitosan Multi-use styling spray holds them through a long night of parties.

Every look comes with instructions you can follow at home on the same machine, with no salon slot to book. For a gift, that’s a more useful kind of celebrity endorsement than a pretty photo on its own.
The One Both Stars Use
If you want to recreate the campaign looks at home, the Airwrap Co-anda 2x at S$899 is the one to have. It’s the only device in the range that both ambassadors use, covering Won Young’s waves as well as Bo Gum’s swept-back style, and both routines start on the same Fast Dryer 2x attachment.

Dyson’s recent hardware includes a S$699 toothbrush with a built-in camera, so Plum and Copper is a quieter kind of launch: the technology stays the same and only the finish changes. For gift-giving, though, the finish is the first thing anyone sees when the wrapping comes off.
When and Where to Buy
Dyson says the Plum and Copper colourway will go on sale in Singapore from Tuesday, 6 October 2026. All five devices will be available at the prices above, at all Dyson Stores and online.

The world’s only kyawthuite sits in a museum collection in Los Angeles, but its colours are heading to dressers across Singapore, and a dryer in those tones comes with a story that’s fun to tell long after the presents are opened. If one of these is already on your list, head to Dyson.com.sg from 6 October to compare the five devices and order the Plum and Copper edition before the festive rush kicks in!
