Seven people vanish in seven Asian cities at the same moment. Their families all receive the same message: only one can be saved. That is the setup of kiDnap GAME, a pan-Asian suspense thriller premiering on Viu on Tuesday, 6 October 2026. Singapore viewers have an extra reason to watch, because scenes were shot in Joo Chiat and around Merlion Park. You can get a first look in the kiDnap GAME trailer on Viu.
If your group chat has spent the past few years picking apart K-drama cliffhangers and anime plot twists, this one will give it plenty to argue about. The cast spans seven markets. The premise asks the audience to pick a side in a contest where every loss is somebody’s family.

Seven Cities, One Cruel Rule
The kidnappings take place at the same moment in Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok, Manila and Naha in Okinawa. As the media frenzy builds, the victims’ families are sent a chilling question: “How far are you willing to go to save your loved one? Only one can be saved.”

From there, seven strangers from very different backgrounds are pulled into a deadly survival game in which only one victim makes it out alive. The families stop being fellow victims and become rivals.
Meet the Seven Strangers
| Actor | Known for | Plays |
|---|---|---|
| Kentaro Sakaguchi | What Comes After Love | Detective Toshiro Niide |
| Lee Joon-gi | Flower of Evil, Again My Life | Surgeon Han Ki-joo |
| Carrie Wong | Singapore’s own | Flight attendant Janice |
| Alice Ko | Someday or One Day | Christina |
| Stanley Yau | The group MIRROR | Andy |
| Joel Torre | On the Job | Taxi driver Miguel |
| Praew Narupornkamol Chaisang | Master of the House | Ayun |

Sakaguchi and Lee have both built loyal fan bases on tense, morally knotty roles. Pairing them in one story is the hook most fans will come for.
If you only follow two storylines closely, make them Lee Joon-gi’s surgeon and Carrie Wong’s flight attendant. Han Ki-joo is a doctor whose job is keeping patients alive. Your third pick could be Joel Torre’s taxi driver Miguel. He is an ordinary worker caught up with a surgeon, a detective and a flight attendant, and characters like that are often the ones audiences end up rooting for.
Joo Chiat Gets Its Close-Up
- Merlion Park
- The Bayfront area
Keep an eye out for a familiar kopitiam (coffee shop) corner or waterfront view on screen. For Carrie Wong, a project that crosses seven markets is a big step up from the single-market work local talent usually does.
Three Studios, Eight Cities
Behind the camera, kiDnap GAME is a co-production between Hong Kong’s MakerVille, South Korea’s SimStory and Japan’s Fuji Television. Viu says the project was three years in the making. Principal photography began in November 2025 and ran for more than six months across Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, Bangkok, Manila and Okinawa.
Fuji Television calls it a landmark pan-Asian production. The broadcaster said that as of 6 September, simultaneous broadcast or streaming had been secured in 18 countries and regions.
Whether kiDnap GAME holds together will depend on how well it balances seven families grieving in seven languages. Viewers will get their first real look next Tuesday.
