Nothing Headphone (1) Pro: a US$399 Studio Switch, Fronted by V of BTS

Singapore listeners eyeing Nothing’s Headphone (1) Pro will have to wait a little longer. The London tech brand launched its new flagship over-ears on 29 September 2026, with V of BTS as its new Global Brand Ambassador, and says Singapore availability and local pricing will be announced at a later date.

Buyers overseas can already get them. The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard list the headphones at US$399 in the US, where sales started this week. There’s no S$ price yet, but that figure places the Pro firmly in premium territory, and it’s worth knowing what that money buys before local details arrive.

A Switch Built for the Studio

The most useful new feature is a physical Flat EQ Switch. EQ, short for equaliser, is the sound shaping most headphones quietly apply to make music warmer or punchier. When you flip the switch, that colouring disappears and you hear a neutral profile, which is what you want when checking a mix or comparing two versions of a track before anyone else hears them. Flip it back and your usual settings return.

That small toggle changes how a lot of people could work. Bedroom producers and content creators tend to carry two pairs, one for honest monitoring and one for the commute, and Nothing wants a single set to handle both.

Studio B is a spatial audio mode modelled on one of the studio’s control rooms. It’s one of five Dynamic Spatial Audio modes with head tracking, alongside Standard, Live House, Club and Concert Hall. There are also five Custom EQ profiles rooted in British music: Neo-Jazz, British Rock, UK Rap + Grime, Electronica and UK Bass.

The UK Rap + Grime preset is the one to try first. That genre depends on heavy low end and sharp vocals, which is precisely where the new driver setup is supposed to shine.

Three Drivers

Most headphones use a single driver, the tiny speaker inside each ear cup. Headphone (1) Pro splits the work across three. A 40mm bass dynamic driver handles 20Hz to 10kHz, a precision dynamic driver covers vocals and instruments between 5kHz and 15kHz, and a solid-state xMEMS treble driver takes the highs from 10kHz up to 40kHz. Nothing says the bass driver has 26% higher sensitivity than the one in the original Headphone (1).

Noise cancellation gets a proper upgrade too. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) now runs on 10 microphones and, Nothing says, is 5dB stronger on average than its predecessor. An 8mm silicone wall inside each cushion helps seal out traffic hum and wind before the software even starts working.

For wired listening, USB-C carries lossless audio at up to 24-bit/192kHz, and a 3.5mm cable comes in the box. Wireless runs on Bluetooth 6.1, with two devices connected at once, so switching from a laptop call to your phone playlist won’t mean re-pairing everything.

Made for Long Days

Battery life is where the Pro gets generous. Nothing lists up to 68 hours with ANC off and 30 hours with ANC on, and The Verge has confirmed those headline figures. A five-minute top-up gives about two hours of listening with ANC running, which is handy for anyone who only notices a flat battery at the MRT gantry.

The headphones weigh 327g. Titanium replaces the steel arms, the headband is 10% wider, and the foam is 50% softer than on Headphone (1). That combination should make long sessions more comfortable, and the IP52 rating offers basic protection against dust and light splashes.

Why V Fits the Pitch

For anyone who knows him only as a BTS member, V (Kim Taehyung) has built a strong solo career. His first solo album, Layover (2023), debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. He wrote songs including Winter Bear and Scenery, sang Sweet Night for the Itaewon Class soundtrack, and in December 2024 released a duet version of White Christmas with Bing Crosby.

The Headphone (1) Pro campaign was shot in Seoul by Dorothea Sing Zhang. “Headphone (1) Pro is a design grounded in creative expression, and I look forward to our journey together,” V said. Carl Pei, Co-Founder and CEO of Nothing, said V “follows his creative instincts, not tried-and-tested formulas”, which is the right note for a product built to sit between studio work and everyday listening. The deal follows Charli xcx joining Nothing as Global Brand Ambassador and shareholder in Spring 2026.

ARMY responded quickly. Nothing’s launch post on X had about 23,000 likes and 13,000 reposts by 29 September, while fans spread the campaign under #VxNOTHING and #TAEHYUNGxNOTHING.

US$399

Early reviews like the hardware more than the price. TechRadar gave it 4/5, with 4.5/5 for features and noise cancellation but only 3/5 for value. CNET scored it 8.6/10. T3 argued that the original Headphone (1), which launched at US$100 less, is still the better deal.

That view makes sense. The Pro starts to justify its price when you’ll use the Flat EQ Switch, whether you’re mixing a first EP or editing TikToks with voiceovers that need to sound right on every phone. For that group, one pair that can handle work and the commute could save space and money in the long run.

Until Nothing confirms its Singapore plans, you can watch V’s Headphone (1) Pro campaign film on YouTube and keep an eye on Nothing’s channels for local pricing and launch details. Anyone who has wanted studio-style monitoring without carrying a second pair should watch this launch closely!
