Perfect 10: Ten Bib Gourmand Dishes at S$10 Each in Orchard

Ten dishes at S$10 each have been on the tables of a basement off Orchard Road since Monday, 21 September 2026, and they’ll stay there for as long as the limited run lasts. For a name that Michelin has recognised ten years in a row, that’s a very friendly price.

The deal is Perfect 10, a limited-time menu from Tiong Bahru Hainanese Chicken Rice to mark 10 consecutive years of Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. The award goes to its Tiong Bahru Market stall, which has made the list every year since the Singapore guide’s first edition in 2016. Most brands would celebrate a milestone like that with something commemorative and pricier. This one has cut ten of its plates to a flat tenner, and for a Bib Gourmand name that’s the most fitting way to do it.

What a Bib Gourmand Means

A star is Michelin’s fine-dining tier, with tasting menus and reservations booked months ahead. The Bib Gourmand is a different award altogether. It flags good cooking at a friendly price, which is why Singapore’s list reads more like a hawker centre directory than a rich list. Winning it once is one thing. Keeping it for ten years means the inspectors come back every year and the chicken has to be as good as the last time.

Co-founder Anders Cheong was clear about what the streak means to the family behind it. “A decade of Michelin recognition is a dream come true, but our true reward remains the same since 1987: seeing families and friends gather around our tables to enjoy a comforting, honest plate of chicken rice. Thank you, Singapore, for growing with us.”

The brand started at Lengkok Bahru in 1987 and made its name at Tiong Bahru Market. There, the poached bird with its bouncy, gelatinous skin won over three generations of diners. Nearly four decades on, it opened its first full-service restaurant, a 76-seater at Takashimaya Shopping Centre. Perfect 10 is served only there, so the market stall’s regulars will need to head into town for it.

4 New Dishes to Order First

So why these ten dishes? “We wanted the Perfect 10 line-up to show that there’s more to us than our signature chicken rice,” the brand said. The ten combine zi char favourites (the communal, wok-fried Chinese cooking most Singaporeans grew up sharing) with four new permanent dishes and two local desserts, chosen to work well for sharing. “Having 10 dishes at S$10 each also ties back to our 10th consecutive Bib Gourmand recognition and is our way of thanking customers for their support over the years.”

Chilli Crab Sauce Lala is the one to order first. It’s lala (small clams) tossed in a rich chilli crab sauce, so you get the national dish’s flavours without cracking any shells or paying crab prices. For comparison, a delivery listing for the Orchard outlet prices its Sambal Lala at S$20.50, so S$10 is roughly half.

Golden Salt & Pepper Tofu is the second pick. It’s soft beancurd cubes in a very crisp batter, topped with a generous heap of savoury chicken floss, and it’ll probably be the plate everyone at the table reaches for at once.

The other two new dishes are Sambal Chicken Fried Bee Hoon, with house-made sambal and chicken over springy rice vermicelli, and Salted Fish Fried Rice. The fried rice sounds plain, but it depends on wok hei, the smoky flavour a very hot wok gives the rice. Similar sharing dishes on that same delivery listing cost S$17 to S$20.50, so the S$10 price is a real discount.

The Familiar 6, and Dessert

The other six are dishes regulars already know. Homemade Ngoh Hiang with Tiger Prawns wraps minced pork, tiger prawns and water chestnuts in crisp beancurd skin seasoned with five-spice powder. Given what tiger prawns usually cost, it’s the best value of the six. Salted Egg Pumpkin, the Sweet & Sour Pork signature, Bean Sprouts with Salted Fish and a Prawn Omelette make up the rest of the savoury dishes.

Dessert is the Mango Sago & Coconut Sago pair. Note the fine print: it’s two items for S$10 in a fixed combination, so you get both or neither. After a few rich, wok-fried plates, that’s no hardship.

For a table of four, a good order is the lala, the tofu, the ngoh hiang and the sago pair. That’s S$40 on the menu for a spread with sauce, crunch, prawns and something cold to finish.

The Chicken Rice Still Costs S$9.90

The signature chicken rice isn’t part of Perfect 10. It runs on its own deal instead. The Signature Chicken Rice promotion at S$9.90 continues at Takashimaya, all day from Monday to Friday, with a minimum dine-in spend of S$15 per person. You choose poached or roasted chicken and your rice, and it comes with the daily soup.

The choice of rice is what the Orchard restaurant added when it opened. There’s Signature Fragrant Chicken Rice cooked in chicken stock, a lighter, lower-GI (glycaemic index) Fragrant Basmati Rice, and Fragrant Niigata Koshihikari Rice, a Japanese short grain that’s soft, slightly sticky and a little sweet. Koshihikari with poached chicken sounds like an odd match, but it makes sense if you like rice that clings.

Food writers have been kind to the mall version. DanielFoodDiary called it a “reliable, well prepared plate of chicken rice, shaped for a mall environment without losing its heart.” The Ordinary Patrons gave it 4 out of 5 for value in August 2026. That matters on Orchard Road, where chicken rice with a reputation is easy to find, from Chatterbox’s decades-old hotel classic onwards.

Perfect 10 has been running since Monday, 21 September, and the brand hasn’t announced an end date, so round up the group chat and book that dinner sooner rather than later. A Bib Gourmand name charging S$10 a plate in a 76-seat room will fill up quickly, and the Salt & Pepper Tofu won’t last. Follow Tiong Bahru Hainanese Chicken Rice on Instagram at @tiongbahruchickenrice for the run’s closing date and anything else they add to the menu. Ten years of consistency deserves a proper table-wide order!
