The rest of the New York line-up reads like a Spotify Wrapped for anyone who came of age online: Zara Larsson, Lola Young, Brandi Carlile, Ethel Cain, MUNA, and Carly Rae Jepsen. Of those, Ethel Cain is the one this festival was practically built for, and MUNA is the set where the crowd will out-sing the PA.
The Pipeline Is Real, and It Has Receipts
Music on Stage launched globally in 2025 and returned for 2026 across more than 20 regions, run with SoundOn, TikTok’s distribution and artist-services arm. Winners get original-song production, distribution, and promotion, plus performance opportunities at TikTok LIVE Fest and selected festivals including All Things Go NYC.
The most useful precedent is Anyelique Solorio, the 2025 EMEA and Americas champion. TikTok says she put out a debut EP through SoundOn, that her music was used in more than 350,000 TikTok videos, and that she passed 450,000 Spotify streams with her monthly listeners rising tenfold. Those are the platform’s own figures, and they describe reach rather than a career, but they’re the shape of what a win can turn into.
The scale underneath all this is genuinely difficult to argue with. TikTok reported that more than 240 million creators went LIVE globally in 2025. A 2026 Ditto survey found 56% of independent artists rated TikTok the best platform for reaching new listeners, though live performance was still the main promotional method for 26% of them. Both things are true at once, which is exactly why a festival slot is the interesting prize: it closes the gap between the two.
What an Aspiring Artist Should Take From This
If you’re grinding on social media and waiting for one clip to change everything, the lesson here points the other way. The sisters won a competition that judged them on performing live, repeatedly, in front of people. The reps were the qualification.
The second lesson is less romantic but more practical: the opportunity existed because a platform and a festival built a structure for it. Music on Stage runs regional finals with an actual prize attached. Entering one is a different move from posting and hoping.
