Scrolling Instagram, sending voice notes on WhatsApp and checking up on old classmates on Facebook have never cost you a cent. They still don’t. What’s new is that Meta now sells a paid tier on top of those free apps, and plenty of people have already signed up.
It’s called Meta One, and Meta announced its global rollout on 15 September 2026. The idea is simple enough: take more than 50 features spread across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Meta AI, and group them into monthly plans for individuals, creators and businesses. Is anyone paying? Meta says its plans have reached 15 million subscriptions and trials so far, and in Singapore, prices start at S$1.99 a month.
Meta One at a Glance: Plans and Singapore Prices
Short on time? Here’s every tier in one place. The single-app starting price is S$1.99 a month. The bundle prices come from Singapore tech site HardwareZone. You can check them against Meta’s own Meta One plans page before you pay.

| Core | S$8.49 | Single-app perks, plus “more” monthly AI usage for creative tools like image and video generation with Meta AI and Restyle on Instagram | Most people who like AI tools |
| Premium | S$27.99 | Single-app perks, plus an “expanded” AI allowance for the same creative tools | People who generate images or videos every day and keep hitting the limits on the free version |

Depending on the plan, creator and business bundles include enhanced profiles, follow invitations, advanced publishing and analytics tools, team account access, and more access to Meta Business Agent. Meta’s plan descriptions around the world also list a verified badge and impersonation protection.
Good to know: Meta doesn’t list exact monthly AI limits, and some features depend on your account and region.
15 Million and Counting
That big number needs a closer look. It counts free trials alongside paid plans, and it includes the earlier single-app subscriptions such as Instagram Plus. Even so, 15 million sign-ups for extras on apps people have always used for free is a striking total, especially since Meta got there over a few months of testing before the global launch.
Helen Ma, Meta’s vice president and head of Meta Subscriptions, says the demand is real. At the launch she said “a growing number of people are looking for specialised capabilities that a free product built for billions of users isn’t necessarily designed to deliver.” Singapore got an early look, too: earlier in 2026, it was one of the first markets, alongside Guatemala and Bolivia, where Meta tested its AI-focused plans.
Your group chats aren’t about to go behind a paywall, though. Meta says the core experiences across its apps and Meta AI will stay free. So what’s left to decide is whether the extras in the tables above are worth your money, and that comes down to which app you open most and what you do there.
Perks for Everyday Scrollers
The cheapest way in is a single-product plan: Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus or WhatsApp Plus, with prices starting from S$1.99 a month. Think of each one as a personalisation pack for the app you use most. Depending on the app, you get custom icons, themes, stickers, extended Stories and extra pinned chats.

On Instagram, subscribers can send super hearts to Stories. It’s a bigger, splashier reaction than a regular like when your best friend posts front-row concert footage, and it’s the kind of small extra that makes these plans feel playful rather than practical.
Our take: a single-product plan is a small treat, not a must-have. If one app runs your whole social life, spending about the price of a kopi (Singapore’s local coffee) a month to personalise it makes sense. If you mostly scroll without posting, keep your S$1.99. You won’t miss anything important.
Each app has its own plan, so you won’t pay for Facebook extras if Instagram is the only app you open. That’s a sensible setup for people who’ve long since left one of the three behind.
Paying for More AI
The individual bundles are where Meta is really selling AI (artificial intelligence). Singapore tech site HardwareZone lists Core at S$8.49 a month and Premium at S$27.99 a month. Both include the single-app perks and give you more access to AI creative tools, including image and video generation with Meta AI and Restyle on Instagram.
Meta describes Core as giving “more” monthly AI usage and Premium as giving an “expanded” allowance, but it doesn’t list exact monthly limits. Some features also depend on your account and region.
For most people who like AI tools, Core is the plan to go for. It costs less than the cheapest creator bundle and covers all three apps. Premium costs more than three times as much, so it only pays off if you generate images or videos every day and keep hitting the limits on the free version.
Creators Pay for the Badge
The creator and business bundles start from S$17.99 a month, and HardwareZone lists four of them: Essential at S$17.99, Advance at S$45.99, Expert at S$139 and Max at S$469. Depending on the plan, you get enhanced profiles, follow invitations, advanced publishing and analytics tools, team account access, and more access to Meta Business Agent for replying to customers and capturing leads.
Meta’s plan descriptions around the world also include a verified badge and impersonation protection in these tiers. Meta already sells that as Meta Verified, a standalone badge subscription whose standard tier costs US$14.99 a month when bought in-app. With Meta One, the badge comes bundled with the analytics and publishing tools creators have been asking for.
If you’re a freelance photographer, a home baker or a creator who takes Instagram seriously, Essential is the tier to look at. When scammers fake small businesses to steal their customers, protection against copycat accounts is worth having. Advance makes sense once other people help run your pages, while Expert and Max are built for brands with full marketing teams.
The End of Free? Not Quite
Meta has been moving towards paid features for years. In 2022, it launched Instagram Subscriptions so creators could charge fans between US$0.99 and US$99.99 a month for exclusive content, and it took no cut of those earnings at launch. In November 2023, people in the European Union (EU) got a paid, ad-free version of Facebook and Instagram after EU privacy rulings required Meta to get consent before tracking users for personalised ads.
Meta One is different because Meta is now charging all of us directly. The free apps aren’t going anywhere. But the best creative tools and the most useful creator features increasingly come with a monthly fee, and 15 million subscriptions and trials suggest a lot of people are willing to pay it.
How to Sign Up
According to HardwareZone, you can subscribe in the apps now:
- On Facebook or Instagram: go to Accounts Centre.
- In the Meta AI app: open the settings menu.
- Only want Core? Personal plans only appear if your account isn’t set up as a Creator or Business profile, so switch back to a personal account first.
If you’re curious, compare the tiers on Meta’s Meta One plans page before you pay, and read the official Meta One announcement for the full feature list. Whether you pay S$1.99 for super hearts or S$17.99 to protect your business from impersonators, pick the plan that fits how you use the apps, not the one with the most features!
