Call of Duty runs the same play every September. The lights go down, the fog rolls in, and a mode you have played a hundred times starts biting back.
The Haunting returns to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone with Season 06 on 18 September AEST, and the content list is long enough to raise an eyebrow. Two new Multiplayer maps. Three Zombies maps dragged into competitive 6v6. A fresh Survival map. A Warzone location rebuilt as a horror set. And a DOOM crossover sitting on top of the whole thing.
The Battle Pass is headlined by a new Operator called Blackjack, which is exactly the kind of name that only lands in a season this unserious. Here’s what actually drops.
Two New Maps, One Frozen Lab
Quantum puts players inside an Arctic computing facility, which is a setting Call of Duty has flirted with for years without ever committing to the cold. Expect sightlines cut by server racks and very few places to hide.
Bloodstead is the other one, and Activision’s own description promises “unexplainable horrors” while explaining nothing. The press imagery does more talking: ruined buildings, deep snow, and lighting that seems designed to make you shoot at shapes.
Zombies Maps Invade Multiplayer
T.E.D.D. Trials is the genuinely new idea here. Three Zombies maps cross over into Multiplayer for 6v6, and victory goes to whichever team completes the most tasks rather than whichever team fragged the most. Activision’s Season 06 post names the origins: Roadkill from Ashes of the Damned, Inferno from Kowakujō, and Lost from Totenreich.
Two more limited-time modes ride along. Hordepoint hands the undead to whoever holds the objective, so the horde becomes a weapon instead of a hazard. Freeze Tag immobilises enemies, and Zombies proper picks up Tenshu, a new Survival map.
Haunted Hollow Rides a Ghost Train
Over in Warzone, Haven’s Hollow gets torn up and reassembled as Haunted Hollow. The season adds Giant Infected Mode and a Ghost Train, which is the sort of thing that either becomes the best rotation in the game or the reason you die at the worst possible moment.

Rethemed points of interest are usually cosmetic. A moving train is not cosmetic. It changes where fights start and how third parties reach them, and squads who learn its route early will spend October farming everyone who did not.
DOOM, Blackjack, and the Bill
The headline collaboration is DOOM, running through a dedicated DOOM Event Pass with Tracer Pack rewards. That’s a single anchor partner rather than the crossover pile-up of recent seasons, and honestly the restraint suits it.
The Battle Pass costs 1,100 CoD Points, with the Battle Pass Bundle at 2,400 CoD Points. BlackCell sits above that as the paid upgrade for extra rewards. Ranked Play also comes back for Black Ops 7, with rank-based cosmetics and the Glory of Gilgamesh weapon blueprint among the payouts.

One piece of housekeeping worth knowing before you log in. Activision’s Season 05 Reloaded announcement flagged that free access to Endgame ends with this season, and the mode becomes Black Ops 7 owners only from Season 06 onward. If you have been playing it on the free side of Warzone, that door closes.
Bigger Than Last Year’s Haunting
For scale, the 2024 Haunting on Black Ops 6 shipped one new Multiplayer map, Rewind, plus Slasher Deathmatch, Haunted Havoc in Zombies, and Zombie Royale in Warzone, with The Predator on the Battle Pass and Chucky in the Event Pass. Season 06 swaps that stack of licences for one partner and considerably more new ground to run around in.
That matters because Black Ops 7 has had an uneven year. Metacritic’s PS5 page lists a 66 from 49 critic reviews, and TechRadar’s review called the co-op campaign a “rushed and sloppy mess” while crediting the game with “some of the best multiplayer and zombies action in the series so far”. The multiplayer and Zombies half is where this game has always been strongest, and it is precisely the half Season 06 is feeding. Not bad for a title that closed out the Xbox Games Showcase in 2025 on a wave of goodwill.
