It really is happier!

WanderJoy’s tagline encapsulates its promise as a seamless cross-border rewards programme uniting eight Asia-Pacific telcos under one key objective: Empowering their users abroad. Launched on 28 October 2025 at the KDDI Summit in Tokyo, WanderJoy integrates the loyalty and travel offerings of major regional mobile operators into a frictionless mobile experience. In essence, it transforms your phone’s carrier app into a travel companion. From airport lounge access to local dining deals, you can now easily redeem these carefully curated offerings in whichever partnering country you’re visiting. In an age where roaming abroad means either paying steep fees for connectivity, or juggling foreign SIM cards and separate travel apps for deals, with WanderJoy, everything — from connectivity to rewards — is conveniently consolidated in one place.

The Travel Alliance behind WanderJoy came together to solve common pain points faced by travellers across the regions. By pooling their resources, the Travel Alliance aims to remove frictions faced by their over 350 million customers collectively. “The Travel Alliance members are moving beyond connectivity to becoming travel enablers – giving our customers a window into new experiences and making their trips smoother and more memorable,” said Anna Yip, Singtel’s International Digital Services CEO and Chair of the Travel Alliance.

In practice, WanderJoy provides travelers a unified one-stop platform to discover and redeem rewards across entertainment, dining, shopping and more, whilst being tailored to their destinations and accessible via the same mobile app they use at home and abroad.

Why Is It A Game Changer?

Traditional international roaming has been a longtime headache for travelers, from high data fees and looking for the most affordable prepaid SIM cards or standalone travel eSIMs. WanderJoy upends that old model, leveraging on eSIM technology and regional network partnerships so that you can stay connected abroad with your own number without fumbling with physical SIM swaps. More importantly, it layers on a rich catalogue of local rewards that regular roaming has never been able to provide before. On top of getting your overseas mobile data assured, WanderJoy users get an array of perks as if they were longtime customers in each country all along.

One key advantage is seamless integration. You access WanderJoy through your existing telco’s smartphone app, with no new app download or account signup needed. This means secure, one-click redemption of offers using your familiar login and payment methods, bypassing the need to enter credit card details into foreign apps or websites you’ve never used before, and may never use again.

For example, instead of downloading multiple local apps for cabs, tours or coupons (And worrying about payment security) travelers can now find those services aggregated in WanderJoy, backed by their home telco’s 24/7 security infrastructure. All rewards are instantly redeemable and don’t require tedious forms or point conversions – you simply tap to get a voucher code or QR ticket, and you’re on your way.

The WanderJoy launch is just the beginning. With the Travel Alliance hinting that more developments are on the horizon to expand and enhance this ecosystem in the coming months, travelers can expect more partners and offers to be added regularly as the platform’s rewards catalogue continues to grow. Seasonal campaigns and limited-time deals will keep things fresh, so it’s worth checking the app before each trip for new promotions.

There are also plans to deepen the integration with telcos’ existing loyalty programs. For instance, Indonesia’s Telkomsel has announced it will integrate its Telkomsel Poin loyalty system into WanderJoy in a future app update, allowing users to earn and redeem telco loyalty points for travel rewards. This hints at a future where your mobile subscription’s reward points could be spent on a hotel discount or a theme park ticket abroad, blurring the line between telecom perks and travel loyalty programs.

Geographically, WanderJoy might also extend its reach. Currently focused on Asia-Pacific destinations served by its member carriers, the alliance could welcome additional telcos from other regions over time, creating a truly global network of travel rewards. The goal is to “benefit more travellers from our customer base globally,” as emphasised by the Alliance chairperson. This suggests that as the platform matures, we may see it cover more countries and perhaps even forge links with operators beyond APAC, so Singaporean users could one day find WanderJoy perks in Europe or the Americas via similar partnerships.

In sum, WanderJoy represents an innovative leap in how we think about roaming and traveling with our phones, and combines the practical necessity of staying connected abroad with the fun of discovering deals that make each trip more memorable. For the Singaporean traveler who plans ahead, it means one less thing to worry about when you can land in a new country already equipped with insider privileges, whether that’s a free coffee in Taipei or a discounted Grab ride in Bangkok.

WanderJoy is now available to Singtel customers via the My Singtel app’s Roaming section, as well as through other Travel Alliance member carrier apps. For more details, visit the official WanderJoy website!
