Pink Returns “Just Like Fire” To The Music Scene

Here’s an interesting tidbit: pop-rock artist Pink was one of DANamic.ORG’s very first topics. Back in September 2015, we wrote about the possibility of new music from the vocal powerhouse, dissecting evidence such as her writing the new theme song for The Ellen Show.

Our predictions might have been a little bit premature, but Pink is finally back with her original contribution to the official soundtrack of “Alice Through The Looking Glass”, the upcoming sequel to 2010’s “Alice In Wonderland”. The movie will see A-listers like Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, and Helena Bonham Carter returning to their trippy roles in the CGI-enabled Underland.

The electrifying song carries many trademarks of the firebrand; the driving bass drum, the slammed vocal effects, the chorus that hypes it all into overdrive – the perfect Pink sound that’s been shaped over the past twenty years with hits like “Let’s Get This Party Started”, “So What”, and “Please Don’t Leave Me”.

While Pink’s last album-related single was 2013’s “Walk Of Shame” off her #1 album “The Truth About Love”, she’s been keeping busy with side project You+Me, an unexpected folk collaboration with Dallas Green, lead singer of City and Colour. The duo released their debut album “Rose Ave.” in October 2014, which opened at #4 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The mother-of-one also took up the task of reimagining the theme song to daytime giant The Ellen Show. Introduced at the start of season 13, “Today’s The Day” hit all the right notes with the American audience; expertly capturing the light-hearted and infectious PG13 energy of the DeGeneres brand.

So what’s next for Pink? Besides one more contribution to the movie soundtrack (a cover of Jefferson Airplane‘s 1967 hit “White Rabbit”), and a cover of The Beatles‘ “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” for Netflix original “Beat Bugs”, rumours have swirled over a possible country release!

According to Digital Spy, Pink has registered two new songs with music rights organisation Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) titled “Love Me Anyways” and “Recovering”. Interestingly, both songs are co-written with Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin, songwriters who are heavily involved in the behind-the-scenes of country music. Between them, the pair have worked with acts such as Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, and Bonnie Raitt. Could this hint at a more pensive, drawn-back sound on Pink’s next record?

In the words of Pink herself:

Binge on Pink’s VEVO page. You know you want to.
