Welcome to July! Had a restful vacation overseas, but worried that you’ve missed things out in Singapore? Not to worry! This month brings many experiences to check out to ensure you don’t get that FOMO feeling. Check them all out here!
1. Let’s Play @ D’Marquee
Keen for a fun getaway with the kids? Downtown East’s D’Marquee is open for visitors to check out, featuring multiple attractions that both the young, and the young at heart can enjoy together.
Challenge the various inflatable obstacle courses with your family members to see who has the agility and coordination, or duel in the Gladiator Ball Fight, where you don transparent inflatable bubbles and deck it out. There’s also the life-sized King Kong Robot that you can pilot and control to live out your kaiju fighting dreams before ending off with the Classic Bumper Cars for fun all around.

2. Wu Guanzhong: Travelling with the Master
National Gallery Singapore presents an exhibition celebrating the works of contemporary Chinese painter Wu Guanzhong, widely considered to be the founder of modern Chinese painting. The exhibition aims to instil a sense of wanderlust, taking visitors on a journey of his life and his beautiful artworks with the help of docents — long-serving museum volunteer guides.
47 artworks by Wu Guanzhong from the National Collection will be presented at the exhibition, alongside rare archival materials and personal stories and recollections from docent-curators to provide a unique visual experience

3. Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022
Premier League football is coming to Singapore! The Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy sees Liverpool FC and Crystal Palace FC go head-to-head at the National Stadium.
Stars like Wilfried Zaha and Roberto Firmino will be in action and showcasing their skills on the pitch, serving as a preview of their matches for the upcoming season — an event that football fans in Singapore shouldn’t miss! Before the big day, fans can also check out the open training session to see their favourite footballers as they prep for the match ahead.

4. SNYCO’S Tunes of Tomorrow
After an absence of 2 years, audiences can once again enjoy the full orchestral performances of the Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra (SNYCO) as they return in person with their Tunes of Tomorrow concert.
The concert has a mixture of traditional and modern works from youth talents like composers Jon Lin Chua and Li Bochan alongside performances from guests like musician Jacky Ng.

5. TWERKFEST – Island Carnival
TwerkFitSG presents TWERKFEST, a fun-filled experience at Lazarus Island! Featuring booze, twerk games, dance challenges, and prizes; drop by in your best island fit and start the day with the sun and beach before ending it at the club with even more dancing!

6. Bukit Timah Railway Station
Bukit Timah Railway Station is now available to visit for the public after it reopened its doors this month! The iconic location has recently been restored and now features a new community node for visitors to explore and experience.
Visitors can expect to find revamped Railway Station and Railway Staff Quarters buildings that provide a glimpse of the location’s heritage. There are also two gardens for herbs and spices that one can check out, aimed to evoke the old-school kampung atmosphere. And you can relax during your visit to the new cafe where you can get coffee while enjoying the rustic interior.

7. Batik Kita: Dressing in Port Cities
Batik Kita: Dressing in Port Cities is an exhibition celebrating our shared Southeast Asian heritage, featuring over 100 cloths and clothing items showcasing the rich history and culture of batik and batik-making.
Experience the various cultures and ethnic backgrounds by way of batik fashion, and see how dynamic the craft truly is as you experience the various changes throughout the years.

8. East Coast Comedy Standup Night
Laugh it out in July with a standup night right in the heart of the east. Presented by East Coast Comedy and Crane, they’ve curated an eclectic list of Singapore’s best up-and-coming comedians.
Modelled with an open-mic structure like the world’s best comedy clubs, each show features a different line-up of comedians alongside a veteran host, so every night brings a new set of laughs each time!

9. Hydrangea Holidays at Gardens by the Bay
The beautiful sight of the Dutch landscape can be found right here in Singapore with the first-ever hydrangea floral display at Gardens by the Bay!
Featuring over 20 varieties of hydrangeas, these flowers reside within a specially decorated area filled with windmills, canals, townhouses, and a lighthouse — inspired by one of the largest and tallest lighthouses in the Netherlands, the famous red-and-white West Schouwen Lighthouse. Juxtaposed against the colourful hydrangeas, it truly is a Dutch-inspired beauty to behold!

10. Kwa Geok Choo: Singapore and the story of Mrs Lee Kuan Yew
Everyone knows who Lee Kuan Yew is, but how much do we know about the lady who stands beside him? This play by Olivia Yu delves into the early parts of Kwa Geok Choo’s life — from girlhood and the early romance, to being a political wife and mother.
It also follows her time as a lawyer and stories from her time in Britain; illuminating what is a fascinating life. This play is a tribute to the most important person of Singapore’s most influential man.
