From elegant desserts to sinful midnight cravings, a Tiramisu Basque Burnt Cheesecake fits every possible scenario, don’t you think?
A home-grown baker, Jul’s (short for Julene), recently launched her own small business, and she has come up with something almost revolutionary in Singapore’s cake realm. Have you ever heard of or seen a Tiramisu Basque Burnt Cheesecake anywhere in Singapore?
Exactly. Jul’s is an artisan handcrafted Basque Cheesecake specialist, and her latest creation is something new among the boutique and even the mass-market cheesecake brands in Singapore!
Take creamy Mascarpone cheese and blend it in with the unmistakable touch of Bailey’s™ Irish Cream – aren’t you already drooling? This combination forms a signature vanilla-infused
Basque batter, and then it is coated generously with some rich cocoa powder!
This cake just sounds so good. But is it really? I had the honour of trying it out and even greater honour of sharing my feelings about it with you. So here it is: the review!
I excitedly grabbed a spoon and went in for my first bite. I was extra careful about ensuring I had all the layers in my spoon for the first bite. My biggest fear was that it would be grossly sweet, given that it is a basque cheesecake on top of a tiramisu. But when I had my first bite, I was shocked at how the sweetness was just right. It isn’t too sweet, but it’s still sweet enough to be classified as a dessert!
The luscious cream looked so thick and heavy, but I was pleasantly surprised by how airy it was! It simply melted on my tongue, and I couldn’t help but wonder how such a creation was possible. The kick of alcohol didn’t quite come through, but it was definitely for the best. If not, it would have overpowered and muted the richness of the originally mesmerising flavours.
Be sure to eat all the layers together, as the cocoa powder is meant to add a new dimension of flavour and decadence to every bite. On its own, it’s simply bitter and sort of messes up your palate.
I feel that it’s so light that it makes for an amazing end to your meal, even if you’re stuffed. A slice of the cake is not that filling, but it does satisfy you. As a midnight snack, a slice should be enough. (But let’s admit: after 12am, or the sinful hours of snacking, is a slice ever really enough?)
More than anything, this artisanal cake is also so worthy of a post on the ‘gram too! Especially when you cut a slice out and offer your lucky followers a peek into the stunning layers, I assure you, you would have successfully accomplished ‘Mission: Making Followers Jealous’! It’s sophisticated and classy, yet fun and exciting.
Whether as a birthday cake, a fancy addition to tea-time, a cute picnic, or simply just to enjoy this miraculous goodie, this cake must be your next dessert purchase. You can enjoy it with either a sweet glass of wine or a splendid cup of coffee!
And that too for just $49!
If you check out Jul’s menu on her website, you will also notice that she has so many other tasty treats to offer. Apart from cakes, she also sells some mouth-watering Brookies with a mind-blowing gooey centre! Her best-seller is the Salted Caramel Biscotti Basque Cheesecake, but Jul’s mentioned on her Instagram that this Tiramisu Basque Burnt one may just be taking over that top spot!
This new kid on the block is turning heads, and rightfully so! Go to Jul’s website to place your orders now and make all your friends jealous!
