JBL at 80 Is Chasing Gen Z with Plushies, AI Karaoke and 20% Off

From 30 October to 11 November 2026, the JBL Online Store takes 20% off sitewide with the code JBL11.

That’s the deal. The more interesting part is who it’s aimed at. A speaker brand founded in 1946 is marking its 80th birthday with blind boxes, a karaoke booth and AI that strips the singer out of almost any song. It’s a clear look at how a heritage brand courts people who grew up on TikTok rather than hi-fi catalogues.

Why an 80-Year-Old Brand Wants Gen Z

JBL’s own anniversary material traces the brand back to James B. Lansing, who founded it in 1946. It grew out of recording studios and home entertainment before moving into portable and car audio. That makes JBL older than most of your parents.

The Karaoke Trick Carrying the Campaign

The blind box gets the headlines, but EasySing is the feature most likely to change how you use a speaker. On the JBL PartyBox Encore 2 Plus, it removes the lead vocals from a song as it plays. That means no hunting YouTube for a karaoke version of the song your friend insists on singing at 2am.

Try It at Plaza Singapura

JBL 80: House of Sound is a four-stop travelling pop-up. After opening at Bugis Junction, it moves to Plaza Singapura from 2 to 8 November, with two more locations to be announced as the tour continues. Inside, you’ll find an 80th Anniversary Gallery covering the brand’s eight decades, interactive activities with JBL goodies to redeem, and an EasySing Karaoke Booth where you can test the vocal removal on songs from your own playlist.

One catch: the pop-ups are for testing, and the 11.11 prices are online-exclusive to the JBL Online Store. The Plaza Singapura stop runs during the sale, so you can try a speaker in the mall and check out on your phone before you leave.

Who Should Buy What

If you host parties, the Encore 2 Plus with JBL11 is the strongest deal in this sale: two mics included, a gift worth S$249 and a plushie.

JBL launched its Cove Wi-Fi speakers only this month, so the brand is clearly busy this year. Plushies on their own won’t keep an 80-year-old brand relevant, but a booth where you can strip the vocals out of your favourite song might.
