Underneath sits a rubber outsole, which the brand says adds stability and comfort.
New Balance says it developed the shoe in Korea with local fashion tastes in mind. It’s a fair description of the look, which sits somewhere between the dressy flat in your office drawer and the trainers you wear on weekends. The Flat Breeze isn’t the only sporty ballet flat around. The adidas Taekwondo Mei Ballet keeps the Taekwondo’s flexible split sole and three stripes under a ballerina-style upper.
Its case comes down to looks: the laces and band make it the most openly sneaker of the pair, while the adidas version reads more like its parent shoe in disguise. Pick the Flat Breeze if you want something that still looks like a flat from across the room but feels sportier up close.

Fit is where Korean buyers have the most to say. New Balance Korea’s sizing guidance suggests going true to size if you normally buy whole sizes, and half a size down if you usually buy in 5mm steps. Buyer reviews on Korean shopping platform 29CM point the same way. One shopper with a 225mm foot said dropping to 220mm gave a comfortable fit, while another found a 250mm pair noticeably loose and suggested adding a thin insole.
Not everyone came away happy. One reviewer with larger feet said the thin elastic strap looked likely to loosen over time and found the sole lacking in comfort, though a wide-footed buyer felt the strap held securely enough. Taken together, the reviews suggest a shoe that suits narrower, smaller feet best. If you sit between sizes or have a slim heel, try a pair on in store before you commit.
One more note from the 29CM reviews: a Silver buyer said their pair looked slightly mint rather than strongly metallic. Keep that in mind if you’re hoping for a chrome finish.
