Electrolytes for Your Face? Biotherm’s 100-Hour Gel Lands at Watsons

If your gym bag already carries an electrolyte sachet, the next one might be for your face. French skincare brand Biotherm officially launched in Singapore on 15 October 2026. Its full range is now at Watsons Singapore, online and in stores, and the headliner is a moisturiser marketed like a sports drink.

That bottle is the Aquasource+ Electrolyte Dewy Gel, which Biotherm says gives up to 100 hours of hydration. It’s the flagship of the brand’s Skin Fitness philosophy. It also raises a question worth asking if you log your protein after every session: does post-workout logic carry over to your face, or is this gym vocabulary painted onto a moisturiser?

Gym Logic Meets the Bathroom Shelf

For a brand that talks like a personal trainer, Biotherm has surprisingly old roots. Jeanine Marissal and her partners founded it in 1952, building it around the thermal plankton found in the springs at Molitg-les-Bains in France. L’Oréal acquired the brand in 1970.

The Skin Fitness idea is easy to follow. You train, refuel and rehydrate your body, so why should your skin get left out?

It’s a smart fit for Singapore, where a Saturday can start with a spin class and end at a smoothie stall with nobody blinking. Whether the idea holds up depends on what’s in the tube. It also depends on how much of that supplements-aisle vocabulary makes it into the products you can buy here.

From Madrid Studio to HYROX

Biotherm has been road-testing the concept for most of 2026. In January, it opened a Skin Fitness Studio in Madrid built on the line “the skin is trained in the same way as the body”, with the Electrolyte Dewy Gel as its centrepiece.

In May, the brand announced a partnership with HYROX, the global fitness-racing series, covering 10 competitions across Europe and Asia. That includes title-partner events in Barcelona, Copenhagen and Taipei, plus the 2026 World Championships in Stockholm. At those events, Biotherm runs athlete pop-ups and recovery spaces, including a cold-treatment cabin.

The gym crossover goes beyond race days. In the Nordics, Biotherm teamed up with the workout studio brand Barry’s on a 30-day “Step Up Challenge” tied to the gel’s launch. In Malaysia, the brand reportedly set up its own Skin Fitness Studio that mixed workout challenges, skin consultations and product testing.

The bigger question is whether the product deserves a spot next to your shaker bottle.

What’s Inside the Bottle

A retailer listing for the 2026 formula shows the electrolytes as potassium PCA (fifth on the ingredient list), calcium PCA (eighth), sodium PCA (13th) and magnesium PCA (15th). Ingredient lists generally run from most to least concentrated, so potassium carries the most weight of the four. Biotherm pairs the mix with what it calls Hyalu B3.

Biotherm’s release also mentions creatine and taurine among the range’s ingredients, so check the label of the product you pick.

As for the headline number, Biotherm’s product material says the 100-hour figure comes from an instrumental hydration test on 24 subjects. A separate clinical scoring assessment on 41 subjects supports its promise that fine lines look smoother within one hour. Both are the brand’s own tests on small panels rather than independent, peer-reviewed studies. That’s normal for skincare, but worth knowing before you treat 100 hours as gospel.

Science or Sales Pitch?

A sports drink works because sweating costs your body fluid and electrolytes, and drinking puts them back. Biotherm’s own material doesn’t show that facial skin loses or needs electrolytes the way a sweating athlete does, so the “post-workout drink for your skin” line is a marketing analogy. That doesn’t make the gel bad. Electrolytes in a formula can support humectancy, the skincare term for drawing in and holding water.

Treat the gym talk as packaging, and judge the gel on how your face feels at 4pm.

Sticky, Floral, Mostly Loved

The gel reached European shelves before Singapore, and shoppers there mostly like it. It holds 4.7/5 from 222 ratings at Douglas Germany and 4.3/5 from 53 ratings at Douglas Netherlands. Vogue Scandinavia called it cooling and refreshing, and said its slight tack worked well under glass-skin makeup.

The grumbles are consistent. Across 46 reviews averaging 4/5 on beauty retailer Lyko, shoppers flagged a relatively strong floral scent, awkward dosing and a price that didn’t feel luxurious enough. A few said it left a damp, slightly sticky layer at first.

In Singapore’s humidity, that tack is the detail to watch. Beauty blog KHERBLOG found the stickiness faded as the gel dried, and said combination and oily skin types would likely prefer it in warm weather, sometimes even in place of primer. If your skin is sensitive or reacts to fragrance, though, the floral scent is reason enough to patch-test before committing.

The Rest of the Range

The Electrolyte Dewy Gel leads, but four more launch products sit beside it at Watsons. They are the Aquasource Hyalu Plump Gel, the Lait Corporel Moisturizing Body Lotion, the Aquasource+ Vitamin Glow Gel and the Biotherm Homme Aquapower Advanced Gel. Biotherm says each one is made with its aquatic biotechnology.

If you’re buying one thing, make it the Electrolyte Dewy Gel. It has the deepest pile of reviews and the strongest case for oily skin in our climate. The Homme Aquapower Advanced Gel is the easy pick for the guy whose routine is currently shower gel and hope. The Lait Corporel body lotion is the one to keep in your gym bag for after the post-workout shower.

Biotherm’s full range is in stores and online at Watsons Singapore now, so check the current prices there and put the Electrolyte Dewy Gel through a sticky Singapore afternoon. Whatever you make of the gym metaphor, a light gel that copes with humidity is a solid find. Browse the full line-up on Biotherm’s official site and decide which bottle earns a spot next to your shaker!
