If your little one has wanted to go trick-or-treating ever since a cartoon showed them how, Downtown East has a version that doesn’t involve knocking on the neighbours’ HDB doors: The Great Pumpkin Trail, a hub-wide hunt presented with family platform BYKidO. Kids collect stamps at participating stores across Downtown East, trade them for a pumpkin bucket, and bring that bucket to a free Halloween night finale. The trail has been running since Saturday, 3 October 2026 and ends with that finale on Saturday, 31 October.
That leaves three weekends to collect stamps, earn the bucket and settle on a costume, which means the work can be spread out instead of crammed into one night.
Follow the Pumpkins
The format is simple enough for a five-year-old to lead. Families follow pumpkin markers around Downtown East to participating stores, where kids stop for activities that range from educational games and arts and crafts to storytelling sessions.
BYKidO, a family-focused platform, presents the trail with Downtown East.
Three Stamps, One Bucket
Each activity earns a stamp, and children who collect at least three stamps can redeem an exclusive Trick-or-Treat Pumpkin Bucket. The bucket is more than a souvenir. It is the container kids will fill with sweet treats and vouchers from selected stores around Downtown East, so it serves as both the reward for the trail and the starting point for the finale.
Our advice is to finish the stamps on a quieter weekend before 31 October. Your child then arrives at the finale with a bucket already in hand, rather than starting the trail from scratch on its busiest night.
The 31 October Finale
The Grand Halloween Finale runs on Saturday, 31 October. Families have two options. They can trick-or-treat across participating outlets at their own pace, or register for a free guided Halloween Trick-or-Treat Trail at 5pm or 7pm. The haul on offer includes candies, popcorn, ice cream and vouchers.
We’d point first-timers and families with younger kids to the guided sessions. Someone else plans the route, so parents can concentrate on keeping small witches and superheroes together in a crowd. Registration is required, so sign up early if you want a place.
As for which slot to pick, that’s a judgement call rather than anything Downtown East has specified. If your toddler tends to run out of steam before dinner, 5pm may be the safer bet, while 7pm gives older children something closer to the after-dark Halloween they’ve seen on screen.
Dress for the Prize
The finale includes a best dressed costume competition, with prizes that include up to S$500 worth of NTUC Club cash vouchers. That’s a real return on a homemade witch’s hat. It also gives older siblings who have outgrown pumpkin buckets something to compete for, so there’s a reason for everyone in the family to turn up in costume.

The Great Pumpkin Trail is one of several Halloween plans around the island this month, and our Halloween in Singapore 2026 guide has the rest. If you’re mapping out more spooky weekends, our look at Halloween 2026 at five Frasers malls covers more trick-or-treat trails, plus a rooftop horror maze for the grown-ups. For this one, keep an eye on Downtown East’s and BYKidO’s official channels for guided trail registration, then let the kids lead the hunt on 31 October.
