Most songs get translated on their way out to a new market. WOLF HOWL HARMONY took Gachi Funk to Brazil first, played it to a São Paulo crowd, and only then released the chorus in Portuguese.
Gachi Funk (Portuguese ver.) came out on Sunday, 4 October 2026 as a sound on TikTok and Instagram. For a reader in Singapore, that means there’s no ticket to chase and no queue to join, because the release lives on the apps where people make videos. The four-member Japanese group has put its hook there, and where it goes next depends on whoever picks it up.

Meet the Four Wolves
WOLF HOWL HARMONY from EXILE TRIBE is a vocal and rap group formed through “iCON Z – Dreams For Children”, which LDH describes as its largest-ever audition, with 48,000 entrants. Members GHEE and HIROTO were finalists from that first audition. RYOJI and SUZUKI came in through its second chapter, having already sung together in the chorus group DEEP SQUAD.
That last detail explains a lot about the name. Two of the four arrived from a group built on harmonies, and the “wolf” half comes from the idea that each member carries his own story and a quiet, lone-wolf melancholy, brought together as if by fate.
They’ve been busy outside Japan too, and in Southeast Asia in particular. The group spent the past year building a presence in Thailand and won Best Boy Group at the 2025 Asia Top Awards, and their team puts their total streams since debut at more than 65 million.
Three Languages From Day One
Gachi Funk arrived digitally on 20 February 2026 as the pre-release track from the group’s first EP, tera, which followed on 12 March 2026. It mixes funk, hip-hop, and Brazilian influences, and the original lyrics already move between Japanese, English, and Portuguese.

So Portuguese was in the song’s DNA long before this week. What the new version changes is the placement, because it moves the language to the centre of the chorus, the part a short video loops and a crowd shouts back. If a group is going to rewrite one section for a new audience, that’s the smart one to pick!
There’s a personal reason behind the choice as well. GHEE has Brazilian roots, which makes Brazil part of the group’s own story and gives the Portuguese more weight than a marketing checkbox would.
São Paulo Came First
The order of events is what makes this release interesting. WOLF HOWL HARMONY flew to São Paulo for Anime Friends 2026, which ran from 2 to 5 July 2026, and performed Gachi Funk live there on 5 July in front of a Brazilian audience.
The Portuguese chorus landed three months after that set, and the group frames it as a full circle. In their words, it’s a way of handing the song back to the fans and creators who made it feel like home. The email links to a YouTube video of the São Paulo performance, and it’s the quickest way to hear how the track sounds in front of a live crowd.
A Chorus Made to Be Used
The group describes the Portuguese version as designed to be used, with dance videos, fashion, makeup, transitions, comedy, and everyday routines all on its list of suggestions. Dance and transitions look like the natural fit, since a funk hook with a beat drop does half the editing work for a creator.
Releasing a chorus as platform audio follows where music discovery already happens. TikTok says 84% of the songs that entered the Billboard Global 200 in 2024 went viral on its platform first. Doechii’s Anxiety showed how far that can go, when TikTok users rediscovered her 2019 demo in 2025 and she released it officially after fans asked for it.
Doechii’s moment came by accident. WOLF HOWL HARMONY is planning for one from the start, with a chorus in the listener’s own language.
A sound only travels as far as creators carry it, and the group is upfront about that. Its announcement says the next chapter of the song is no longer entirely in its hands.
GHEE Wants the Offline Part
For GHEE, the videos are a starting point. “It’s not just about social media either, I want to actually get out to different countries, meet everyone in person, and sing together more and more,” he says. He hopes the Portuguese version becomes “one more step connecting us with people around the world”.
That’s the part worth rooting for. The group names Brazil and Latin America as the audiences it most wants to reach, and a chorus those fans can sing word for word is a far warmer invitation than subtitles.
The hook is out there for anyone who wants to try it. Grab the Gachi Funk (Portuguese ver.) sound on TikTok, then follow WOLF HOWL HARMONY’s TikTok account to see which videos the group picks up. Four wolves have sent their chorus back to Brazil, and now it’s everyone else’s turn to howl along!
