Your Halloween Costume Could Win S$5,000 at Zouk’s PLAY DEAD Weekend

If you’ve ever spent three weekends hot-gluing a costume only to watch it collect a dozen likes, Zouk has a better return on that effort this Halloween. The Clarke Quay club at 3C River Valley Road is putting over S$10,000 in cash and prizes into its Best Dressed competition, topped by a S$5,000 cash Grand Prize, across Friday, 30 October and Saturday, 31 October 2026. Early-bird entry starts from S$25. Age limits apply (listings say 18+ or 21+), so bring ID.

Both nights run under PLAY DEAD, a theme where forgotten and abandoned toys crawl back to life after dark, warped and broken. It’s Zouk’s first Halloween weekend since the club relaunched its four renovated venues. The club has been pushing dance music in Singapore for more than 30 years, and Zouk says more than 5,000 partygoers turned up for Halloween last year. Your costume will have plenty of competition, so it needs to hold its own on a packed dance floor.

Where the S$10,000 Goes

  • Grand Prize: S$5,000 in cash
  • Runner Up: S$1,500 plus a staycation at COMO Metropolitan Singapore
  • Best Dressed Group: S$1,500
  • Theme-Specific Best Dressed: S$1,000
  • Best Dressed Couple: S$800

Everyone eyes the S$5,000 first, but two other categories may give you better odds. The group prize suits friends on a budget. Split among four people, S$1,500 works out to S$375 each, which is more than enough to cover your tickets and materials. So this is the moment to jio the group chat (Singlish for rounding everyone up for a night out). The theme award is the other sleeper pick. A costume that commits hard to twisted toys can win that S$1,000 and still be in the running for the top prize.

Zouk’s team will roam all four rooms on both nights, looking for the most creative, original and memorable looks. That means you aren’t locked into one date to be spotted. After Halloween weekend, selected finalists are posted on Zouk’s social channels, where public voting feeds into the result. The final call rests with Zouk. Judges look at creativity, execution, originality and how well the costume fits the spirit of the night.

That voting stage matters more than it looks. If you make the finalist cut, friends who share your post widely could tip a close race. In other words, your follower count quietly becomes part of your costume.

A Bigger Prize Than Zouk’s Last Halloween

Costume contests are a familiar hook on Singapore’s Halloween circuit, and other clubs have handed out champagne, dining or staycation packages. Zouk’s own Hansel & Gretel night in 2025 offered a cash prize for the best-dressed guest. This year, the prize pool tops S$10,000.

The cost of going out is part of the appeal too. One nightlife operator told AsiaOne in August 2026 that an average night out here can cost close to S$200 per person. PLAY DEAD’s entry is much lighter than that: early-bird tickets start from S$25.

Four Rooms of Broken Toys

For the weekend, the whole complex becomes The Playground, four connected worlds you can wander between all night.

  • Zouk Mainroom → The Playroom. Giant props and visuals on new 12-metre-wide LED walls make the room feel oversized, and everyone inside it feel toy-sized. This is the room to aim for if you want photos, because a costume shot against that scale instantly looks like a toy on a shelf.
  • Phuture → The Toy Box. This room is cramped on purpose. Broken and lost toys cover every surface while the party carries on around the circular dance floor.
  • Capital → The Dollhouse. Expect sinister details lurking behind its polished surfaces.
  • Rally Clubhouse → Lost & Found. The newest venue, which opened in June, is the pit stop for food, drinks and a breather.

A practical note for the builders among you: The Toy Box is tight by design, so anything with a wide wingspan will have an easier night in the Mainroom.

Event listings name Bassjackers as Friday’s headline act. Doors open at 10pm on both nights.

Plan Your Twisted Toy

The theme is aimed squarely at people who grew up with these toys. A 2026 YPulse report found 13-to-39-year-olds buying childhood favourites, collecting toys and seeking real-world experiences that let them feel like kids again. PLAY DEAD takes that feeling somewhere much darker. Think of:

  • a virtual pet nobody remembered to feed
  • a porcelain doll with a cracked face
  • a whole group dressed as a board game set missing half its pieces

Execution is one of the judging criteria, so a clever idea still has to survive a night of dancing without falling apart. Do a test run at home. Also make sure your costume has at least one detail that shows up clearly in a phone photo, because finalists are judged partly through a screen.
