1,500 Dancers, 100 Supercars: Citrawarna Speed Festival 2026’s Final Week

On Saturday, 3 October at 8.30pm, 1,500 dancers and cultural performers will parade through IOI City Mall Putrajaya, and that night is the reason to go. The 12-day Citrawarna Speed Festival 2026 has been running since Wednesday, 23 September and closes on Sunday, 4 October. Anyone heading up to Malaysia this weekend can still catch the parade, the sim racing and a supercar send-off. If you’re flying in, the programme also reaches KLIA Terminal 1 and the Sama-Sama Hotel KLIA.

The festival is run by Tourism Malaysia, the national tourism agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), as part of the country’s Visit Malaysia 2026-2027 campaign. It follows the main Citrawarna 2026 celebration held at Dataran Merdeka in July. The festival is spread across a mall, an airport terminal and a hotel. Racing simulators sit in Zone A and traditional arts and crafts sit in Zone C at IOI City Mall, while gasing and congkak are on offer at KLIA Terminal 1 and Sama-Sama Hotel KLIA, so a crowd queuing for a race seat has plenty of time to drift over to a craft table before its turn comes up!

Saturday Night Belongs to the Parade

Colours of Parade is the headline act, and it’s the one worth building a trip around. According to Tourism Malaysia, the procession will bring 1,500 dancers and cultural performers from different Malaysian regions and communities along its route through IOI City Mall Putrajaya, with traditional music, dance and costumes in every colour you can think of.

Can’t make Saturday? The mall’s Zone D (Premiere B) runs cultural performances, virtual reality (VR) elements and meet-and-greets with the festival mascots, Wira and Manja, across the whole festival. Families should head there first, because kids who miss the big night still get their photo with a mascot.

Sim Racing in a Mall Atrium

Over at Zone A (Lower Ground, East Court), the Colours of Speed area runs a Simulator Competition where visitors test their lap times for prizes. Competition rules and prize details are posted on the festival’s official Facebook and Instagram pages, so check them before you queue.

14 Stations Worth Slowing Down For

Zone C (Symphony East) is the arts side of the festival, with 14 interactive stations of traditional arts, crafts and live cultural performances. Istana Budaya, the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) and Kraftangan Malaysia are among the festival’s partners. Only have an hour? Skip a second sim run and spend it here. You’ll remember a hands-on craft session long after you’ve forgotten a lap time.

On the way out, Zone B (GFEC) has info booths from Tourism Malaysia, Tourism Selangor and the Sepang Municipal Council. It’s a useful stop if you’re stretching the trip into a longer look around the area.

Flying Into KLIA Terminal 1?

The festival doesn’t stop at the mall. At Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 and Sama-Sama Hotel KLIA, organisers have lined up cultural dance performances, automotive exhibitions and racing simulator sessions. There are traditional games too: gasing, the Malay spinning top, and congkak, a mancala-style board game where you drop seeds into holes.

Staying at Sama-Sama Hotel? Your room comes with a specially designed Citrawarna Speed Festival room key card, and most guests will want to pack it rather than hand it back at the front desk on checkout.

Pick Your Night

If you can only do one day, make it Saturday. Spend the afternoon on the sim rigs and the Zone C craft stations, then stay for the 8.30pm parade, because that’s the part of Citrawarna Speed Festival 2026 you can’t recreate at home. Sunday, 4 October belongs to the supercar crowd. The festival closes with a Lamborghini Activation, which organisers say will gather approximately 100 high-performance supercars. Any weekday before then still gets you the simulators and crafts, with the parade left for the weekend.
