Car culture has a reputation for velvet ropes, where the loudest machine on the street usually belongs to the person with the deepest pockets. Sago Festival of Speed takes a friendlier route on Saturday, 10 October 2026. It takes over Duxton Hill from 1pm to 6pm with free entry, and a hand-built bicycle gets a spot on the same street as a specialty car.
The festival, tagged online as #SagoFOS, is back for its second edition as part of Grand Prix Season Singapore (GPSS) 2026. GPSS is the run of race-themed events supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), and it stretches from 2 to 11 October around the Formula 1 (F1) race weekend of 9 to 11 October. The host is Sago House, the cocktail bar that launched the festival last year.
Its team sums up the idea in four words: speed in all forms. That phrase carries a lot of weight, and it’s the reason this afternoon deserves a slot in your race-week plans even if you’ve never owned anything with an engine.
Speed in All Forms, Literally
This year’s programme packs specialty cars, unique motorbikes, custom bicycles and radio-controlled (RC) vehicles into one afternoon. Food, cocktails, music, art, makers and independent communities fill the spaces between the machines. Read that list slowly and notice who it lets in: the kid with a remote-control buggy, the hobbyist who has spent years restoring a scooter, and the friend who pours every paycheque into bike parts all have a reason to turn up.
That mix is the festival’s strongest argument. A show built only around expensive cars asks visitors to admire things most of them will never own, and that gets old fast. Put a custom bicycle next to a specialty car and the whole street turns into a conversation about craft. On this hill, the natural question is how you built it, and nobody needs to ask what it cost.
The RC vehicles are the newest addition. Coverage of the 2025 edition centred on classic cars, custom-built motorcycles and vintage bicycles, so this year widens the circle. For families, RC is the easiest way in, since a child who can’t reach a car’s pedals can still lose an hour watching a miniature racer tear across the tarmac.
Round Two on the Hill
The first Sago Festival of Speed ran on Saturday, 4 October 2025, from 2pm to 6pm at Sago House. It was pitched as a one-day, family-friendly block party. The Straits Times listed classic cars, custom-built motorcycles, vintage bicycles, street food and drinks in its preview.
Harper’s Bazaar Singapore called it a “lively block party”. Its preview flagged barbering pop-ups and children’s activities alongside the sim racing and cocktails. A post-event write-up by FirstClasse credited the festival with capturing the community spirit of race week. It singled out the vintage bikes, artisan vendors, street food and craft cocktails, and it mentioned a package that bundled two Sago House cocktails with a complimentary trucker cap.
This year opens an hour earlier, at 1pm instead of 2pm, and adds RC vehicles, music, art and more makers to the mix. That extra hour matters more than it looks, because an afternoon event on race weekend competes with every plan your group chat has already locked in. City Nomads reports that the F1 racing simulator returns for 2026. Given how few slots there were in 2025, it’s the one thing worth planning around rather than leaving to chance.
Paint, Pours and Makers
The art and maker side of the programme is where Sago Festival of Speed parts ways with a standard car meet. Painters, makers and independent communities share the street with the machines, so a stroll can swing from a custom exhaust to a hand-painted canvas within a few steps. For anyone who finds engine talk a little much, that’s the escape hatch, and a welcome one!
It also gives the day a different pace. Nobody needs to know a carburettor from a camshaft to enjoy watching someone make something in the open air, on a street that usually belongs to Duxton Hill’s bar crowd after dark.
Drinks come courtesy of Woodford Reserve, the sponsor of the 2026 edition. Entry costs nothing, and the organisers pitch the optional festival packages at guests who want to “add a little more fuel to their day”. The packages are sold through the Sago House online shop and link up the group’s bars on the hill.

Where to Spend Your Five Hours
With free entry, the smartest plan is to arrive near 1pm and head straight for the custom bicycles and motorbikes. They’re the most attainable dream on the hill, since a bike build is something a visitor could plausibly start next month. Sim-racing fans should treat the F1 simulator as the priority, especially with only 20 slots available last year.
