Most people walk into IKEA for a bookshelf and walk out with forty tealights. On Saturday and Sunday, 3 and 4 October 2026, IKEA Alexandra gives gamers a far better excuse to visit, with 1v1 tournaments, a live Valorant showdown against pro gamer CrazNeax and a cosplay contest with cash-value prizes.
The IKEA Gaming Festival anchors the retailer’s month-long Play Festival, built around YXSTABY, a nine-piece furniture collection IKEA designed with Xbox. There’s a Himalayan wildlife range for kids in the mix too, so the whole household can tag along.
Your Shot at a Pro
CrazNeax is one of Singapore’s top gaming creators and a pro gamer, which makes a head-to-head against him the closest most local players will get to testing their aim against someone who plays at that level. His live takeover runs 5pm to 7pm on both days, and challengers receive a token of participation for stepping up.
That two-hour window is the one to plan your weekend around. Only so many people can face him in 120 minutes, so turning up well before 5pm is the smart play if you want a seat rather than a spot in the crowd watching someone else get flicked.
The Quick Match Tournaments run longer, from 1pm to 7pm on both days, in what IKEA calls its “cosiest gaming nook”. Players battle 1v1, and whoever tops the overall leaderboard takes home S$1,000 worth of gaming vouchers, which is a serious haul for an afternoon at a furniture store!
Entry is open to anyone aged eight and above, and every participant gets a limited-edition GÖTEHULT bag while stocks last. Miss out, and there’s a second route: from 2 to 4 October, the first 50 IKEA Family members who spend S$35 in a single receipt at the Swedish Food Market get one free, or you can buy it outright for S$1.90.
Cosplayers Own Sunday
Cosplayers get their moment on Sunday, 4 October, from 2pm to 6pm. You complete photo missions around the store, post them on social media tagging @ikeasingapore, then pose for the judges.
The Best Dressed Cosplayer stands to win prizes including S$100 IKEA Gift Cards and S$100 beauty hampers. Online sign-ups close on 3 October at 5pm, while walk-in registration runs on the day from 2pm to 5pm (terms apply). Our advice is to register online, because nobody wants to fill in forms while wearing a wig and forty minutes of foam armour.
Families who’d rather not queue for a pro can head to the Family Gaming Room, open from 12pm to 7pm on both days. It runs on dance, fitness and puzzle games, the sort your parents might attempt, with time-limited sessions per person or group so everyone gets a turn.
Nine Pieces, Three Worth Buying
YXSTABY lands in all IKEA Singapore stores on 2 October and online from 8 October. In-store buyers are capped at two pieces per item, a limit that signals IKEA expects demand to outrun shelves.
Seven designers from IKEA and Xbox built the range, and it leans on controller shapes rather than RGB lighting. If you followed the reveals at Xbox’s two-hour mid-year show last year, this is the furniture version of that energy, toned down for a living room.
Here’s the full price list. The thumbstick stool is S$59.90, and the D-pad cushion is S$19.90. The D-pad controller platter, a stainless steel dish, costs S$19.90 too.
The controller display box goes for S$29.90 each. The laptop support with storage is S$39.90, with the monitor stand at S$49.90 and the lounge chair at S$129. Rounding out the range, the TV stand on castors is S$149 and the side table on castors is S$169.
Our first pick is the thumbstick stool. IKEA designer David Wahl says the goal was a seat that “works and looks like a stool” while still feeling like the thumbstick, and its curved base lets you rock around the same way the stick moves. At under S$60, it’s the conversation piece of the range.
Our second pick is the laptop support, the most practical piece for anyone gaming in an HDB living room. IKEA designer Max Hausmann says many of his friends “don’t have a dedicated gaming space, so they play on a laptop in their living room”, and this toolbox-style case lets you set up and pack away in minutes.
The side table rounds out our trio. Xbox designer Elliot Hsu calls it “a dedicated place where you can charge your controller”, and on castors it rolls over when you need snacks within reach. At S$169, it’s the priciest piece, and it earns that by doing two jobs.
Desk-bound PC players should look at the monitor stand, which lifts your screen, stores clutter underneath and hides cables. It’s the least flashy item here, yet the one most likely to fix a messy setup.
A Wild Side for Kids
The second collection, ALPTALL, is a kids’ range inspired by Himalayan wildlife, made with Nordens Ark, a Swedish non-profit wildlife conservation centre. It’s in stores and online from 2 October.
Soft toys run from S$2.90 to S$29.90 each and include a red panda, a snow leopard, a Pallas’s cat and, surprisingly, a Bactrian camel. IKEA’s Bodil Fritjofson says the team fell for the conservation centre’s red pandas and built the whole collection around their home.
From 2 to 31 October, children aged five to 12 can join the Wildlife Quest, spotting ALPTALL animal photo boards around all three IKEA stores and picking up wildlife facts along the way.
On 24 and 25 October, from 1pm to 6pm, the Colours of Himalayas colouring activity picks one winner per store, who takes home a set of ALPTALL toys. Kids who keep their crayons inside the lines might score the whole zoo.
There’s a claw machine as well. Spend S$50 in a single receipt to earn one token, then try your luck at IKEA Tampines on 31 October and 1 November or IKEA Alexandra on 7 and 8 November, from 1pm to 6pm, while prizes last.
For bedrooms, the duvet cover with pillowcase costs S$39.90, a hooded towel is S$19.90 and a storage bag is S$12.90.
