Somewhere inside Singapore’s largest indoor nature playscape, pumpkins have built themselves into a wall, animal eyes are glowing in the dark, and two Ranger Buddies named Al and Min cannot work out why. That is the premise of The Mischief Within, and it is the first time Curiosity Cove at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve has done Halloween at all.
It runs 1 October to 1 November 2026, and it splits into two very different moods depending on when a family turns up.
Daytime Comes With Admission
Boo-tiful Day runs daily from 10am to 5.30pm and costs nothing extra, because it’s folded into regular Curiosity Cove admission. That’s the part worth underlining before anyone starts doing sums: if a family was already planning a Mandai day out in October, the Halloween layer arrives at no additional charge.
What that layer holds is carnival-shaped. Mischief Knockdown gives guests three tries to topple a wall of pumpkins the Mischief supposedly conjured, and Pumpkin Blast hands over a Mischief Blaster and sets ten pumpkin targets loose outside the Cove, in teams of up to two. Each cleared station stamps a Quest Card, and two stamps redeems an exclusive Halloween Badge, which is a low bar to clear.
The paid extras in the daytime are small and reasonable. Crafty Cauldron at Tinker Corner charges S$6 per craft, or three for S$15, for a Neon Glow Painting or a Glow Night Lamp that goes home with the kid. Candy bags are S$6, pre-filled, and exist mainly so children have something to carry while chasing down the roving crew for top-ups.
The Evening Is the Real Event
Sundown is where the money and the story are. It runs 6.30pm to 9.30pm with last entry at 8.30pm, on 2 and 3, 9 and 10, 16 to 18, 23 to 25, 30 and 31 October, and 1 November 2026. Thirteen nights, all Friday to Sunday, which means October weekends will be the pressure point.
After dark, the playscape becomes The Mischief Within Trail, four challenges that hand out four Quest Card stamps and a certificate at the end. Midnight Dash splits guests into two groups of four who rally a hoverball toward a finish point to unlock the next clue. Whooo’s There? sends them through the maze into the Snake’s Belly to count pairs of glowing eyes and report the number back to the crew. Reef Rescue has pairs pulling jigsaw pieces from the Reef Bed to rebuild a sea jelly or an octopus. The finale, The Secret Burrow + What Lies Within, asks children to find all four hidden animal stations in the maze, match each animal to its number, and decode a lock to seal the Mischief away.
That last one is the smartest bit of design in the whole programme. A lock decoded from animals hidden around a maze means the kids do the finding, the remembering and the maths, while the adults hold the candy bag and take the photos. Curiosity Cove is built for children aged three to 12, and a code hunt scales neatly across that whole range in a way a haunted house never could.
The Bubble Show and the Best Dressed Sash
Each night climbs toward The Mischief Live!, a bubble performance by CJ Bubbles full of floating, glowing surprises. Bubble shows are quietly one of the most reliable crowd-pleasers in the business.
Then comes the Victory Parade, which closes the night with the Best Dressed Awards: one child winner and one family winner, every Sundown evening. Thirteen nights, twenty-six winners, and a genuinely good reason to put the effort into a costume rather than defaulting to a bought cape. Families are encouraged to come dressed up, and the award only goes to people who turned up in something.
Food follows the theme at the Ranger Buddies Café, open weekends and during Sundown sessions, and at Owa Bistro by the Singapore Zoo entrance, which runs its Halloween menu daily through the period.
What It Actually Costs
Sundown tickets admit one adult and one child. Saturdays are S$50, Fridays and Sundays are S$40, with S$15 per additional adult and S$25 per additional child. The non-peak nights save a family of four S$10 for exactly the same programme, so a Friday booking is the obvious move unless Saturday is the only day that works.
The better value sits elsewhere. Anyone already holding a Curiosity Cove day-admission ticket can extend into Sundown for S$25, which turns a daytime visit into a full day and evening. Friends of Mandai pay S$25 for one adult and one child across Friday to Sunday, with S$10 per extra adult and S$15 per extra child. WildPass holders get 10 to 15% off, and Ranger Buddies members take 25% off. Corporate group rates exist too.
For families who would rather not drive home at 10pm with a sugar-loaded seven-year-old, the Play & Stay bundle pairs Sundown admission with an overnight tent stay at Reservoir Retreat for two to four guests, from S$229.
Mandai is entering a crowded October. Resorts World Sentosa’s Festival of Thrills runs 1 September to 1 November across four venues, and it’s worth reading alongside this year’s wider Halloween line-up in Singapore before committing a weekend. What Curiosity Cove has that the bigger players don’t is scale in the other direction: one indoor venue, a group of four kids, a maze, and a code that needs cracking before anyone goes home.

If the plan is a costume, book a Friday or Sunday Sundown and save the ten dollars, then spend it on a craft kit and a candy bag. The best-dressed sash goes out on all thirteen evenings, and the first one is 2 October, so there’s just enough runway to build something better than a bought cape!
