I keep coming back to that 22-point gap, because it sums up the whole show in a single number. It comes from Episode 2 of the regional reality dating series, which Singapore broadcaster Mediacorp premiered on Thursday, 10 September 2026, and the first four of its 12 episodes are already streaming on mewatch, Mediacorp’s streaming service, and on the Mediacorp Entertainment YouTube channel. If you’ve ever left a date wondering whether the other person was on the same one, this show might feel a little too personal.
Your Best Friend Is Now Your Agent
Here’s the setup. Eight singles who are tired of endless swiping move into a villa in Singapore, and each one brings their closest friend along as a wingman. Those wingmen do more than offer moral support: they compete in challenges to win dates, size up potential matches, and help steer who their single ends up with.
The money is what makes it spicy. The winning couple takes home S$20,000, while the winning wingman pockets a separate S$10,000, so your bestie has a prize of their own to chase while they’re supposedly looking out for you. That’s either sweet or the start of a group chat nobody wants to be in.
According to Mediacorp, production house Beach House Pictures made WINGMAN after an open casting call across Southeast Asia in December 2025, and the broadcaster bills it as its first reality dating series since the Chinese-language The Destined One in 2019. The cast mixes singles and wingmen based in Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand.
Singles Inferno strands its cast on an island and Too Hot to Handle fines people for kissing. WINGMAN puts your best friend in the driver’s seat instead, which is much closer to how dating works in 2026, when the group chat weighs in before anyone texts back. If you’ve been working through last year’s Valentine’s Day binge list, this one has earned the next spot in your queue.
An 11, Then a Minus 11
Cheryl, 24, is a Singapore-based pageant queen who works in social media marketing for her parents’ business, and she has no problem bringing up her pageant credentials. She grew up treated like a princess by her father, so she wants someone who values romance and makes her feel special. A Ferrari would be welcome, she jokes. Slippers are fine too, as long as they’re Versace.
Marco, 25, is a Filipino actor and model who quips that his frontal cortex has finally developed. Both of his three-year relationships ended badly and got press attention, and he came hoping his wingman Lorenzo, 26, could help him meet someone outside show business. His theory is that attraction is easy, but genuine connection is harder to find.
Send the two of them on a luxury first date in Episode 2 and the scoreboard breaks. Cheryl was completely smitten and gave the evening an 11. Marco told Lorenzo his score was “probably minus 11”.
Read their profiles side by side, and the minus 11 stops being a shock. Cheryl wanted to feel special, and a luxury date is built to deliver exactly that. Marco came looking for connection, which he says is the rarer thing, and no amount of luxury can promise it. Most of us have been on one side of a date like this. Watching it play out with actual numbers is peak paiseh (Singlish for cringe-level embarrassment), and you can see the moment for yourself below.
Josh Has the Hardest Job
Tyler, 21, is spontaneous to a fault. He was engaged at 20 and single again by 21, and he once travelled to China to visit a situationship after she told him she was seeing someone else. He also says he can’t date anyone if there’s a “swag gap” between them, a phrase that deserves its own merch.
That’s where Josh, 28, steps in. He started as a child actor, kept acting, and now makes vlogs on top of it. His stated plan is to stay tactical and keep the bigger picture in view. His real assignment is simpler to describe and much harder to pull off: reining Tyler in before those impulses turn into fresh drama. I’d argue this duo is the whole premise in miniature, because a good wingman knows when to hype you up and when to take your phone away.
In Episode 2, Tyler went on a date with Frayya, 23, a Thai actress whose mother is an actress as well. Frayya entered the villa after a seven-year relationship that never won her family’s approval. She’s used to being pursued, and she admits flirting doesn’t come naturally to her. Her wingman UL, 21, is a psychology undergraduate who owns two snakes and plans to use her studies to spot red flags.
Wish Lists, Moustaches, and a PhD
Cheryl’s Versace rule is far from the only oddly specific request in the villa. Financial auditor Olivia, 29, wants a man with a PhD (a doctorate, so a master’s won’t cut it) who is active and looks after himself, and she likes clean-cut, Korean-inspired looks, ideally with no facial hair.
Gigi, 33, is originally from Canada and now leads technology for a hospitality group in Thailand. She spent eight years with a partner she felt didn’t live up to his potential, and her shorthand for the ideal match now is “a Hyrox man with brains and a heart”. Hyrox, if you haven’t heard of it, is a fitness race that mixes running with gym workouts.
Gymnastics coach Sam, 29, is holding out for a sporty partner who feels like a “10 out of 10”, and he’s ready to use gymnastics or dance moves to get her attention. The signature moustache stays, though, because he has no plans to shave it for anyone. His wingman Hadri, 31, is a freelance film stuntman who has been on plenty of first dates but has never had a relationship. So Sam’s hunt for a 10 out of 10 is in the hands of a man with lots of first-date experience and none at all with what comes after.
Episode 4 Scrambles the Board
Then Episode 4 arrives with a title that says the quiet part out loud: No One’s Off Limits? Marco, the man behind the minus 11, ends up in a modern kitchen cooking with Frayya, whose own Episode 2 date was with Tyler.
Follow the lines and it gets tangled fast. Cheryl rated her evening with Marco an 11, Tyler has already had his date with Frayya, and now Marco and Frayya are in the kitchen together. Every single caught in that web has a wingman in the villa with opinions, and one of those wingmen walks away with S$10,000.
This is where WINGMAN’s twist pays off. Usually a mess like this plays out between the singles alone. Here, everyone in it has a personal strategist, so friendships get tested right alongside the flirting.
Glamorous Cast, Group Chat Problems
Strip away the villa and the prize money, and WINGMAN is about the gap between how a date felt to you and how it felt to them. It also gives you the friend who’s brave enough to tell you which version is true. The cast is glossy, with actors, models, and a pageant queen in the mix, yet L.A, 33, another Filipino actor and model, joined for a very ordinary reason. He kept his relationships private because of the Philippine entertainment press, his past partners felt hidden, and now he wants something open and normal.
If you only have time for one episode, make it Episode 2, which has both the 11-versus-minus-11 date and Tyler’s date with Frayya. With two new episodes a week, catching up before the finale on Thursday, 8 October 2026 takes a couple of evenings at most.
