Getting a tighter shot on a pocket gimbal camera used to be a simple but slightly awkward choice. You could step into your subject’s personal space, or you could pull out your phone and lose a few pixels to zoom in.
That was the case for many an Osmo Pocket 3 owner, till the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P launched on 29 June 2026 with a second lens sharing its gimbal.
It’s DJI’s first dual-lens gimbal camera and the more professional sibling of the single-lens Osmo Pocket 4. Singapore tech site Techgoondu lists local retail prices of S$779 for the Standard Combo and S$879 for the Vlog Combo. For two cameras squeezed into a 230g body, that’s a fair ask.
Two Lenses, One Pocket
The main camera pairs a new 1-inch sensor with a 20mm-equivalent f/2.0 lens. DJI says its LOFIC (lateral overflow integration capacitor) technology gives it 17 stops of dynamic range. That’s cinema-camera territory for a gadget that fits in your palm, and it comes in handy for sunsets and backlit portraits, where a blazing sky and a shadowy face usually fight over who keeps the detail.

In PetaPixel’s testing, the camera fell short of that number, though the site still called its dynamic range impressive. Missing a spec that lofty is a problem most pocket cameras would love to have.
Now for the second camera, which is where this upgrade earns its keep. Its 60mm f/1.8 medium-telephoto lens gives 3x optical zoom and reaches as far as 12x. That wide aperture melts the background into a creamy blur, too.
If you’d rather not film people from centimetres away, this lens is the game changer. Your friend across the café table holds on to their personal space, and you still get the close-up. DJI’s ActiveTrack 8.0 subject tracking keeps people, pets, and cars centered, even at full zoom.
What’s New Since the Pocket 3
The Pocket 3 arrived in October 2023 with a single 1-inch sensor, 4K video at 120 frames per second (fps), and a US$519 launch price. The 4P doubles that frame rate to 4K at 240fps, which works out to 8x slow motion. That’s enough to turn a teh tarik pour (frothy “pulled” milk tea) into its own mini movie.

Anyone who edits their clips gets a treat from the new 10-bit D-Log 2 colour profile. It records over a billion colours, so there’s loads of wiggle room when grading the footage.
Everyday shooting speeds up as well. Rotate the touchscreen and the camera switches on and starts recording in one go. Prefer hands-free? Flash a “V” sign to start a clip without touching a thing. An 18-minute charge takes the battery from empty to 80%, and a full battery lasts up to 210 minutes.
The Fine Print for First-Timers
Good news first: with 103GB of built-in storage, it’s ready to shoot straight out of the box. Once the 4K footage starts piling up, the microSD slot takes cards as large as 1TB. The catch? The battery can’t be swapped, so a power bank deserves a spot in your bag on long shoot days.

Then there are the accessories, and this is where deciding gets harder. Filters, a fill light, and the FrameTap remote are sold separately or come in some combos, and those add-ons stack up quickly. According to Techgoondu, Singapore’s Vlog Combo adds a Mic Mini 2 transmitter, a tripod, and a remote controller for S$100 more. Planning to talk to the camera? That extra S$100 is the easiest spend in this launch to justify.
A heads-up for US readers: DJI hasn’t officially launched the Osmo Pocket 4P in America. The company has been on the Federal Communications Commission’s Covered List since 22 December 2025, which blocks its new hardware from the US market. Engadget’s review headline puts it best: “the best gimbal camera money can’t buy”.
So, Should a Newbie Buy It?
Already own a Pocket 3? Use it till you can’t. That second lens is prime boy math material (the fine art of talking yourself into a purchase), and a long list of accessories only makes the sums trickier. Hold off until the 4P goes from a want to a need, and be honest about how often a single lens has held you back.
Buying your first camera ever? That’s a different story.
If money isn’t the issue, get the Osmo Pocket 4P and go a little crazy. Saving money on an older Pocket makes sense right up to the day you outgrow it and end up buying two cameras. The portrait lens and D-Log 2 come built in, so a beginner can grow into this camera without growing out of it.
