Signing a kid up for sport in Singapore usually starts with a term fee, a uniform, and a long argument in the family group chat about who handles Saturday drop-offs. Our Tampines Hub (OTH) has gone the other way this month.
The hub bills itself as Singapore’s largest integrated lifestyle hub, and its September 2026 calendar packs sports, arts, and community sessions into one building in Tampines. OTH describes the month as everything from “fast-paced sports challenges” to performances by local theatre and arts groups. In practice, that means you can turn up, try something, and go home without having signed anything.
The dated item worth putting in your phone is the sports experience on 10 September 2026, which takes sign-ups through an official registration page. The rest of the calendar rolls out across the month.

Games You Learn in One Afternoon
Badminton needs no sell here. It’s the sport most Singaporean kids meet first, usually in a corridor with a borrowed racquet and no net, and OTH’s indoor courts are the properly floored version of that.
Pickleball is the newer arrival. Paddle, plastic ball, and a court small enough that rallies start on day one, which is why it keeps turning up in community spaces across the island. A beginner wins a point inside ten minutes. That first point is the entire hook.
Tampines Community Sports Week puts residents on those same courts, which is the part that matters. Neighbourhood sport works when the person across the net lives four blocks away and will be there again next Saturday.
Compare that with the structured route. ActiveSG’s Athletics Development Centre takes ages 10 to 18 and charges S$260 per term for members and S$371 for non-members, buying multi-week coaching rather than one session. That’s the right pathway for a kid who already knows they love the sport. September at OTH is the bit that comes before, when nobody knows yet.

Parents Get a Speaking Role
Away from the courts, the month turns theatrical. Once Upon Anderson, a parent-child drama workshop inspired by The Emperor’s New Clothes, comes from act3 international with support from Festive Arts.
Here’s the catch, and it’s a good one: parent and child build the story together. No dropping a kid at a studio door and scrolling for an hour in the lobby. Someone’s father has to commit to a scene about a naked emperor, in front of other people, and the kids will remember it for years.
September in the heartlands has long leaned arts-heavy, something our monthly round-ups have tracked since 2021. What’s changed is how much of it now sits inside one address instead of scattered across five community clubs.

One Building, 12 Agencies
OTH can carry this spread because of what it was designed to be. The National Heritage Board’s Roots portal calls it “Singapore’s first integrated community and lifestyle hub”, with 12 government agencies under a single Public Service Centre. The sports halls, the regional library, the swimming complex, and the hawker centre all share the postcode at 1 Tampines Walk.
The pricing follows that design. A Singapore gym listing site ranks ActiveSG @ Our Tampines Hub the cheapest gym in Tampines at S$2.50 an entry, against S$59 to S$79 a month for a commercial operator in the same building. Visitors rate the hub 4.5 out of 5 on TripAdvisor across 19 reviews, with crowds the most common gripe, so the courts reward anyone who shows up early on a weekend.
No child has ever fallen in love with a sport because of a receipt. They fall for it on a court down the road, on a Saturday, badly, with a parent watching from the side and pretending not to coach.
