If your weekend plans have been stuck on read these past few weeks, then good music and a glass of Monkey Shoulder might be just what you need right now.
This August, Studio Monkey Shoulder LIVE has been moving through Singapore with a month-long music series built around independent venues, local selectors, global names and, naturally, whisky serves. Running till 31 August 2026, the Singapore edition is part of Monkey Shoulder’s wider Southeast Asian series, curated in collaboration with Gilles Peterson, Worldwide FM, RASA and Offtrack.
The point isn’t just to drop big names into the city and call it a day. The series is putting them alongside the people who have already been building Singapore’s underground and independent music scenes, which is where things get more interesting than your standard branded party night.
Moodymann’s Long-Awaited Singapore Debut Takes The Saturday Slot
The next major stop happens this Saturday, 22 August 2026, with Taman RASA presents Moodymann at Foo Chow Hall.
Moodymann, the Detroit house icon known for blurring house, soul, jazz, funk and whatever else the dancefloor can handle, leads the night. He’s joined by a stacked local line-up featuring Bobby Obby Obby, Dean Chew and Daryl Knows of Darker Than Wax, Ramesh of Tropika Global, and Suffyan of Shutter Rhythms.
In other words, this isn’t just one headliner doing all the heavy lifting, but a full evening of local and international selectors sharing the same room, with Monkey Shoulder keeping the drinks side of things in the conversation too.
Not Just A One-Night Affair
Studio Monkey Shoulder LIVE has already kicked off with Denis Sulta at RASA Space earlier this month, while Offtrack has been hosting weekly Studio Monkey Shoulder sessions every Thursday with local selectors.
There’s still more to catch after Moodymann too. Offtrack closes out its Thursday series on 27 August with DJ KFC, running from 8pm to 11pm with free entry and reservations available. Meanwhile, Monkey Shoulder DJ Nights at Anti continue every Saturday through December 2026, from 8pm to 12am, with no tickets required, though reservations are recommended.
So even if Foo Chow Hall is already looking like a tough door to get through, the month isn’t completely done with you yet.
