If you’re one of those travelers who yearns for better travel footage outside of their smartphones, but don’t exactly want to include half a camera store in their packing list, Insta360 has officially launched the Luna Ultra in Singapore.
Mind you, this isn’t just another pocket camera trying to look cute beside your phone. Co-engineered with Leica, the Luna Ultra is Insta360’s new flagship gimbal camera, built around a 1-inch sensor, Leica Summicron optics, 8K recording, and a dual-lens setup that gives creators more room to shoot without having to drag out a full mirrorless rig just to do so.
Pocket-Sized Camera Packed With Major Specs
The main camera shoots up to 8K/30fps, with support for Dolby Vision, 10-bit I-Log, and up to 14 stops of dynamic range, which should matter to creators who actually want room to colour grade outside the norm of just slapping on a preset and hoping for the best.
There’s also a 1/1.3-inch telephoto lens that supports up to 12x zoom, including 6x lossless zoom, so you never get stuck awkwardly shimmying to your subject just because the zoom wasn’t enough.
Low-light filming gets a boost too, thanks to Insta360’s Triple AI Chip and PureVideo Mode, while Leica colour profiles such as Leica Natural, Leica Vivid, and Leica Chrome give users more in-camera looks to play with.
The Screen Pops Off: Intentionally
One of the Luna Ultra’s biggest features however is its detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen, which works as a wireless monitor and remote with HD transmission up to 20 metres.
That makes it especially handy for solo creators, group shots, couple shoots, travel vlogs, or anyone tired of having to ask, “Am I in frame?” every five seconds. It also doubles as a microphone, which means one less thing to forget before leaving the house.
