Tucked away on Level 7 of the hotel, this poolside rooftop bar sits in the Alexandra precinct, which is honestly more central-west than “wah so far west”, so calm yourself Easties. And no, you don’t need a hotel booking just to enjoy the vibes. Just come dressed smart casual, bring your friends and prepare for a modern European evening with infinity pool views, garden-to-glass drinks and surprisingly sensible prices.
Bloom Service: Cocktails With A Botanical Buzz
I’ll be honest. When I first heard “hotel rooftop bar”, my wallet instinctively flinched.
But Verandah’s refreshed drinks programme is not as scary as expected. The new Ladies Moments botanical cocktail series starts from $22++ each, and each drink comes with its own wellness-inspired twist. Enter the Golden Kiss, an orange turmeric margarita with tequila, turmeric, agave nectar, orange juice and lime juice. It is bright, punchy and gives just enough turmeric energy to let you tell yourself this is self-care.
There’s also the Quiet Garden, a matcha martini made with vodka, matcha, ginger honey syrup and lemon juice, which should speak directly to matcha lovers looking for that extra skip in their step. Meanwhile, the Midnight Dream, with vodka, blue pea syrup and egg white foam, is the kind of drink that makes you pause for photos before remembering you’re supposed to drink it.
Why Momentus Hour Is The Real Main Character
The biggest surprise, though, is the Momentus Hour Unlimited Package.
At $98++ per pax and available daily from 5pm to 8pm, you get unlimited — yes, UNLIMITED — cocktails and tapas-style bites. That includes drinks such as 1925 Lager draught beers, house wines, Gin & Tonic, Whisky Sour, Cranberry Bellini, Mango Lychee, Pink Lady and Blue Lagoon.
On the food side, highlights include Crispy Chicken Lollipop, ‘Har Cheong’ Paper Thin Pork Belly, Grilled Baby Octopus, Thai Street Chicken Skin, and the Dirty Picanha Steak with Truffle Fries.
As a self-professed carnivore who has never met a good piece of meat I didn’t want in my belly, having the picanha steak while sipping on my third cocktail of the night was the only way to watch the sunset and easily help me forget I was drinking on a Wednesday. The paper-thin pork belly was also dangerously crisp, salty and snackable, pairing way too well with drinks like the Golden Kiss and Midnight Dream.
If you’re coming in a group, this is the move. Break it down and the value starts making a lot of sense very quickly (No girl math needed!).
Mocktails That ‘Pop’ The Party
And fret not, sunset watching at the Verandah isn’t strictly for alcohol lovers. Verandah’s also launching its Garden to Glass Soda Pop Series, and yes, the song immediately played in my head too.
Starting from $10++ each, these house-crafted mocktails are made with real ingredients, no artificial flavours or preservatives, and are naturally low in sugar. The line-up includes Brain Food, Chill Out, Goes Blue, Heart Throb, Party Starter, Sunkissed and Skin Saver; A list of names that sounds like someone spun a wheel and decided, “yes, all of these are drinks now.” Not sure where to start? You simply have to head down, pick the one that spiritually calls out to you and find out whether you are more Brain Food or Party Starter that day.
Even as someone who enjoys alcohol — not alcoholic yet, thanks for asking — I could imagine relaxing by the poolside with one of these soda pops, soaking in the evening breeze and pretending I’ve made a healthy life choice.
Old Favourites, New Fruity Suits
For those who prefer something familiar, the Drink of the Month series starts from $16++ each, spotlighting classic cocktails such as Mojito, Daiquiri, Margarita and Martini, reimagined with fruits like lychee, orange, blueberry, strawberry, blackberry, lime, pineapple and kiwi.
Ala-carte cocktails and tapas-style bites are also available from $10++ each, with vegetarian options available too.
So whether you’re there for sunset drinks, post-work decompression, weekend catch-ups, touristy “show me a different side of Singapore” energy, or just to feel like your weekday has a plot, Momentus Hotel Alexandra’s Verandah Pool Bar & Grill makes a pretty convincing case.
