We are all eagerly waiting to don our Ghost masks again when Ghost of Yōtei arrives on 2 October 2025, and PlayStation has made the wait even more agonising with their recent State of Play, doing a deep dive into the game. But another piece of exciting news from the stream is that they will be releasing a limited edition Ghost of Yōtei PS5 and DualSense controller!
Made as a collaboration between the teams at Sucker Punch and Sony Interactive Entertainment, the specially designed console and controller offer fans an additional way to celebrate the game’s release.
Ghost of Yōtei PS5 Console
Let’s talk about the PS5 console first. Inspired by kintsugi, a traditional Japanese process that uses lacquer and gold to repair broken ceramics, the design of the limited edition Ghost of Yōtei PS5 console captures the same essence of the art form.
It features branching lines of gold across the console, with the visual of Mt. Yōtei—a key location in Ghost of Yōtei—as the centrepiece of the entire design. On the other side of the console, you’ll also find a special maker’s seal engraved with PlayStation shapes for an added Japanese aesthetic.
Ghost of Yōtei DualSense Controller
The special design is not just limited only to the PS5; gamers can also get their hands on the Ghost of Yōtei DualSense Controller, which arrives alongside the console.
Similarly, it features a kintsugi-inspired design; this time, the controller’s gold lines are more prominent across the handles. But the highlight is the centre of the controller, with a silhouette of Atsu emblazoned on the DualSense’s touch bar. Like the console, a PlayStation maker’s mark is also found on the controller.
Availabliity
Both the limited edition Ghost of Yōtei PS5 and DualSense controller are available in a bundle, which also includes a digital copy of Ghost of Yōtei Standard Edition that additionally has pre-order content like a unique in-game mask, as well as a set of seven PSN avatars featuring concept art of Atsu and each member of the Yōtei Six.
But if you already have a PS5 (specifically the slim version) or a PS5 Pro, you don’t have to miss out. Console covers for both the regular PS5 and PS5 Pro are being made available for purchase in limited quantities. Likewise, the Ghost of Yōtei Gold Limited Edition DualSense will also be available as a standalone purchase.
