The June holidays are here, which could only mean good things are ahead! If you happen to be looking for activities to fill up your calendar with, here’s one more to add to that – The Goodman Open House 2025 taking place on 28 June from 10 am to 10 pm!
Taking place at the many blocks around Goodman Arts Centre, visitors can expect a multitude of activities, like hands-on workshops, open studio visits, and live performances, to name a few. There’s tons to do, so much so that you’ll be completely spoilt for choice.
Highlights
Creators Market
Starting with the Mighty Makers Creators Market by DPLMT at Block O, visitors can expect a hub of multiple experience zones as well as interactive craft booths, all done up by local artists and designers.
Meanwhile, Block C houses the Nature-Inspired Eco Market by Plantitude, where one can find goods such as handmade skincare, botanical art, tote bags, and more, all coming from eco-conscious brands and local farmers, so there is sure to be something that might catch your eye here!
Colours Under the Sun
If getting hands-on and creating is more of your thing, you’re bound to enjoy “Colours Under the Sun” during Goodman Open House 2025!
Starting with a simple art sheet, participants are guided through the activity across three different interactive booths, where they can learn techniques such as straw painting, finger painting, and stamp making, just to name a few.
Open Studios
Spread across the grounds will be open studios that allow visitors to head in to have a look at the local artists’ workspaces. While here, you can also have little chats with the artists themselves, delve deeper into their creative processes, and even have hands-on experiences at certain studios.
Puppetry and Performances
For those with little ones tagging along, Goodman Open House 2025 also has activities lined up for them in the form of performances! At the Goodman Arts Centre Black Box, Paper Monkey Theatre Ltd will be performing and even letting kids join “The Man Who Planted Trees”, a puppet performance that combines Asian values into a tale of hope, unity and community.
Children aged 4 to 7 can also join in the fun of “Let’s Dance! An Indian Dance Adventure for Little Movers”, where they’re exposed to classical Indian dance through avenues such as storytelling, music, and creative movement games.
As for activities for the whole family, you can also consider staying on for Beats and Doodles: A Communal Composition, a joint participatory experience helmed by Cherry Chan and Brilliant Corners Club.
Threadlines
Be sure to also stop by Threadlines, a community-led mural joint effort between AHL, DPLMT and the seniors of Mountbatten Art Club, all of whom have come together to put together a community mural inspired by cross-stitching motifs, showcasing a deeply personal expression of what it means to create together.
Outdoor Cinema
Come dusk, the open field outside Block O transforms into an outdoor silent cinema, where anyone and everyone can join in for a screening of Transformers One under the cover of night, so bring along friends, family, and grab some popcorn.
If you do happen to be feeling peckish, Gourmet Hot Dogs and Loaded Nachos are being sold at That Hot Dog Stand, offering up flavourful Asian-inspired bites.
