Can you believe we’re already halfway through the decade? New Balance seems to have realised this, they’ve released the ABSORB 2010 to throw us back in time! Inspired by the brand’s running heritage, let’s kick off our exploration into how this progressive take reinvents the era’s design of running shoes!
ABZORB 2010
Originally introduced in 1993, New Balance’s ABZORB technology has since revolutionised the running landscape with its superior blend of foam cushioning and compression set featuring rubber. This functional feature has long been a signature across several of the brand’s fan-favourite lifestyle models, but shockingly, it also hasn’t taken centre stage in its own dedicated line.
Thus, enter: the ABZORB 2010, which uniquely transforms this hallmark staple into a fresh visual design statement that stands out even amongst the most iconic of New Balance silhouettes, delivering exceptional comfort whilst honouring New Balance’s running heritage through a modern lens.

With wearability in mind, the shoe combines the excitement of an innovative, all-new style with a sense of the familiar. The segmented ABZORB sole unit features more expansive proportions, featuring not only the classic technology at its midsole, but also its more stability-focused SBS variant at both the heel and forefoot of this design!
Speaking of design, this eye-catching visual is first paired with a diamond-knit mesh upper for an updated twist on a classic look. Then, its bold centrepiece is further elevated with a balance of texture and detail due to both its complement with the nubuck and synthetic overlays, and its contrast with reflective accents.
Last but not least, with its sculpted midsole details and the iconic moulded “N” logo, the design comes full circle–blending function with unmistakable New Balance flair!
The ABZORB 2010 is now available in Singapore at select retailers like those at Orchard ION, Paragon, Jewel Changi, and VivoCity at a suggested retail price of S$219.
The shoes can also be found on the official New Balance website for the same price, so do cop a pair before they sell out!
Finally, a Grey Days variant of the ABZORB 2010 exists both in stores and online, so check out our full article on the pair, along with the other drops from the month-long campaign now!
