From S.E.A. Aquarium to Singapore Oceanarium—Here’s What’s New

What? I hear you say–but yes, it’s true! After being closed for what seems like forever since April 2025, Resorts World Sentosa is finally proud to announce that Singapore Oceanarium—a transformation and expansion of the former S.E.A. Aquarium—will officially open its doors to the public on 23 July 2025. As such, here’s what to expect!

Singapore Oceanarium: An Immersive Journey Across 22 Zones

Three times larger than its predecessor, Singapore Oceanarium first and foremost reinvents the ocean experience by spanning across not only space, but also time.

From the shallow waters to the deep sea, through prehistoric oceans to the present day, you’ll embark on a journey across 22 purposefully designed zones that guide you from curiosity to commitment, building a powerful emotional connection with our marine world.

These zones include Ocean Wonders—home to one of the world’s largest habitats built on the kreisel principle, housing thousands of mesmerising moon jellies—and Singapore’s Coast, an immersive mangrove environment which seamlessly blends mangrove-inspired landscapes and interactive habitats together to spotlight native biodiversity.

What a way to admire Mother Nature’s living lava lamps!

Do also catch life-sized prehistoric animals and living fossils in an epic tale of evolution at Ancient Waters and Conquering Land–before ironically settling at Migrators, where the vibrant ecosystems of today’s open waters are unveiled.

Finally, dive into the deep end of the adventure in the Open Ocean–where boundaries dissolve into the endless blue amongst Reef Manta Rays, Zebra Sharks, and thousands of other marine animals behind an awe-inspiring 36-metre-wide viewing panel.

The Singapore Oceanarium isn’t just vibes, though! Rooted in education, the experience is also designed to deepen understanding through both multisensory storytelling and immersive digital displays.

They could never make you scare me, Dunkleosteus…

From witnessing an astonishing life-sized recreation of a whale fall ecosystem in Whale Fall and Sea Mount to learning stories of successful marine protection initiatives in Hallway of Hope, every element is crafted to transform wonder into action, empowering everyone of all ages to protect and cherish the ocean that connects us.

And for the highlight: the Jewel of Muscat, a replica of a ninth-century Arabian dhow from the former Maritime Experiential Museum & Aquarium is back in Spirit of Exploration! Moreover, if you’re seeking a breather, step into Explorer’s Nook–a themed cafe that serves pastries, light bites and lifestyle keepsakes inspired by marine life.

Last but not least, check out the gift shop before leaving for a curated range of marine-inspired apparel, educational books and keepsakes created by sustainable brands. The store also serves as a platform for seasonal capsule collections and pop-ups by local brands–so keep an eye out for that as well!
