As the hot and humid months start to roll in this year, Sony is introducing a new device to help cool everyone down – the Sony REON POCKET PRO.
For the unfamiliar, Sony’s REON POCKET series of products are portable cooling devices worn around the neck for users, functioning much like a mini air-conditioner. The REON POCKET PRO is the latest addition to the family and serves as a high-end model that delivers even better cooling performance.
What’s new with the REON POCKET PRO?
In the new Sony REON POCKET PRO, the company has been able to include two independent thermo-modules (DUAL thermo-modules) for the first time in the series. What this means is that now there is twice the cooling area and up to twice the heat-absorbing performance compared to the previous version.
These two independent thermo modules work in tandem to create alternating intensities that provide a continuous cooling sensation for users. There’s also a newly developed heat-dissipating fan and an enhanced heat-dissipation system that provides twice the airflow and heat absorption.
The REON POCKET PRO has also been made smarter than before. When putting on or taking off the device, the AUTO START/STOP function now detects users’ motion more reliably/ Additionally, the combination of the multiple sensors and Sony’s unique algorithm has improved the operating time when using the SMART COOL mode. Now, the device can automatically adjust its performance to provide optimal cooling by seeing the user’s behaviour, their body temperature and humidity, and the temperature and humidity of their surroundings, enabling powerful cooling for up to 15 hours. Plus, noise has also been reduced by 50%
Speaking of operating time, the device also features an upgraded battery, allowing it to be used for up to 34 hours when at COOL Level 1—double the battery life of the previous model.
Functionally, the REON POCKET PRO works as its predecessor does. The compact device is hung over the nape, with control buttons on the sides to switch between COOL or WARM modes (yes, it works in warming you up in cold weather too) as well as adjusting their levels. Alternatively, users can also control the device through their smartphones with an app.
Availability
The Sony REON POCKET PRO launches in Singapore this month and is priced at a retail price of S$329, though Sony is also offering an Early Bird Promotion from 20 May to 30 June 2025 that gives S$20 off for My Sony Rewards Members.
