April 2025 has been the biggest month of the year yet. We’ve got the full reveal of the new Nintendo Switch 2, but there’s still stuff coming out from Bungie, Samsung, and Sony. So for all your tech and gaming news for this month, read on from our Tech Bytes April 2025 roundup!

Nintendo Switch 2 games, release date, and price revealed

After Nintendo’s January tease for the Switch 2, the company finally did a full blowout for its new console this month, revealing more information about the hardware, games, release date, and its price.

We’ve known that the Nintendo Switch will be a bigger and better version of the original Switch, but now we know what upgrades it comes with. The portable screen is a 7.9-inch LCD display with a 1080p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The Joy-Con controllers are now attached magnetically rather than on rails, and now come with mouse-like functionality—which some games can utilise for gameplay. The previously mysterious C button also activates a new Discord-like GameChat feature with video call support available through the camera peripheral. Lastly, the console comes with a bigger 256GB of storage, and the dock will be able to do 4K output onto televisions.

As for the games, there will be a new Mario Kart game—Mario Kart World—available at launch when the Nintendo Switch releases. Following that, the next big Nintendo first-party titles are Donkey Kong Bananza and Kirby Air Riders. There is also a whole host of third-party support, with popular games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy amongst the titles coming to the console. But more interestingly, anticipated games in Hollow Knight: Silksong and Hades II will also arrive for Switch 2. Games, however, will have a varied price range, with Mario Kart World priced at US$80, for instance.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on 5 June in the US for US$449.99. Fans in Southeast Asia will have to wait a little longer to experience the new console, with Nintendo only giving a July to September 2025 range for its launch in the region.

FromSoftware making Switch 2 exclusive game – The Duskbloods

While we are still on the subject of the Nintendo Switch 2, let’s talk about one of the biggest surprises from the Direct. FromSoftware is making an exclusive title for the console—yes, you are seeing that correctly.

The game is called The Duskbloods and it will be helmed by acclaimed director Hidetaka Miyazaki. From the trailer, the game is very reminiscent of Bloodborne, featuring a bleak, gothic-like atmosphere with grotesque monsters roaming the world.

However, the game will play somewhat differently than FromSoftware’s other popular titles in that it is a player vs player vs enemies (PvPvE) format multiplayer game. Starting out, players choose from over a dozen characters, called Bloodsworn, where they then compete for “first blood” across the map. There will be rounds with varying objectives, some of them encouraging players to work together to defeat a boss.

Currently, there is no release date for the game, but it is slated to come out sometime in 2026.

Bungie formally unveils Marathon, coming in September

Following its reveal back in 2023, Bungie has finally pulled back the curtain on its next major game after the Destiny series – Marathon. This month, the studio spent an hour presenting its first gameplay trailer, also outlining the lore and game mechanics that players will get to experience.

Set in the futuristic timeline of 2850, Marathon is a PvPvE extraction shooter that centres on Runners that scavange the lost colony of Tau Ceti IV, a place whose inhabitants disappeared without a trace. Working in a team of three players, your job is to grab as much loot as possible and get out. However, there are also rival Runners out to get what you have.

Maps can hold up to six teams (18 players), with various zones and points of interest to explore and loot.

Before a run, players can build a loadout and select between different Runners that fit their playstyle. For instance, there’s Glitch, which has fast-paced abilities and is designed for run-and-gun players. Another is Void, which can turn invisible and is for those who prefer to avoid combat. Besides other players, the map also features other threats that require handling as you explore. When you die, your gear is dropped. But survive the run, and the loot follows you to future runs.

Marathon will be released on 23 September 2025, and though it won’t launch as free-to-play, Bungie has said that it won’t be a “a full-priced title”.

New Fan Edition devices incoming with Samsung’s Tab S10 FE line

Tech Bytes April 2025: Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE

Samsung’s Fan Edition line returns, this time with new entries in the Tab series – the Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Galaxy Tab S10 FE+.

Normally, the Tab FE devices are direct counterparts to the standard Tab models, but this year is different, with both the Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ coming in different size offerings. The Tab S10 FE will be the smallest tablet that Samsung has available, coming with a 10.9-inch display. Meanwhile, the Tab S10 FE+ sits in between the S10+ and the S10 Ultra with a new 13.1-inch screen.

Given that they are midrange-centric devices, there are some liberties taken with the hardware. Instead of an OLED screen, both models use LCD panels. Additionally, their refresh rates are limited to 90Hz. The processor used is a Exynos 1580 chip, an upgrade over the previous 1380. The main camera is also upgraded to a new 13-megapixel sensor, though the S10 FE+ loses an ultrawide camera. IP68 dust and water-resistance also make a return on the new FE line.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ are available for purchase now in Singapore from the Samsung Online Store and platforms like Lazada and Shopee. The Tab S10 FE is priced starting at S$698, while the Tab S10 FE+ starts at S$998.

Sony introduces its new BRAVIA 2025 lineup

Tech Bytes April 2025: Sony BRAVIA 2025

Sony is refreshing its BRAVIA TV slate this year, introducing one new model into their line as well as updating two others with new versions.

The highlight is the new BRAVIA 8 II, which replaces Sony’s well-regarded A95L as the company’s flagship QD-OLED TV. Not only does it has 150% the peak brightness of the original BRAVIA 8, but it also trumps the A95L by 25%. The TV also uses the latest generation QD-OLED panel, and combined with features such as XR Contrast Booster, enables images to appear stunningly bright and detailed.

Meanwhile, the BRAVIA 5 is a brand-new entry into the Sony TV slate. It is presented as the most affordable TV option to get if you are looking into getting a Mini LED TV. Compared to the X90L, it has up to six times more dimming zones and bringis better backlighting and blooming performance. Lastly, the BRAVIA 2 II is the company’s newest entry-level TV, offering notable features such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support, Google TV, and a built-in upscaler.

The new Sony TV models will be made available in Singapore from May 2025 onwards, with details on pricing to be announced. Read more about Sony’s latest televisions with our first-look coverage.

Oblivion Remastered stealth released this month

It’s often joked that Bethesda continues to release a new Skyrim game from the The Elder Scrolls series, but this time, they aren’t doing that. Instead, they are bringing back an older title – The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Near the end of April, Bethesda had a surprise reveal for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, a remaster of the cult 20-year-old game. It is co-developed by Virtuos and Bethesda Game Studios, and despite the name, the game features a full graphics overhaul in Unreal Engine 5.

In addition to letting fans re-experience the iconic world of Cyrodiil, the remaster also includes the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was shadow-dropped upon its announcement, with the game now available to play on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
