Nearly five years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch Productions returns with Ghost of Yōtei, a standalone spiritual successor launching 2 October, 2025, exclusively on PlayStation 5 in Southeast Asia. While this new chapter is unconnected to Jin Sakai’s journey, it carries forward the studio’s signature narrative depth and world-building, this time through the eyes of a new protagonist named Atsu, whose path is forged in fire, vengeance, and ultimately, transformation.
A Living World, A Changing Hero
Much like its predecessor, Ghost of Yōtei is more than a tale of retribution. As players explore the wild, untamed beauty of Ezo, they’ll uncover a world alive with emotional nuance, unexpected alliances, and spiritual echoes of the past. A new gameplay mechanic allows players to glimpse Atsu’s memories, deepening our understanding of what she’s lost — and what remains.
Sucker Punch promises a more open and reactive world than ever before. Players can choose which member of the Yōtei Six to pursue first, or diverge into side paths: tracking bounties, meeting weapon sensei to master new techniques, or simply wandering the wilderness. You can even set up camp anywhere under the stars — a reminder that Atsu’s journey is as much inward as it is outward.
Editions and Pre-Order Details
Starting 2 May, fans across Southeast Asia will be able to secure their copy of Ghost of Yōtei, with three distinct editions available to suit different kinds of players, from those eager to jump straight into the story to collectors looking for a deeper, more tactile connection to the game’s world.
The Standard Edition, available in both digital and physical formats, is priced at S$97.90.. Players who pre-order this edition will receive a unique in-game mask, along with a set of seven PlayStation Network avatars featuring concept art of Atsu and each member of the Yōtei Six. Those who pre-order via the PlayStation Store will receive the avatars immediately at launch.
For those seeking a little more in-game flair, the Digital Deluxe Edition offers a suite of additional bonuses at S$107. In addition to the full game, this edition includes The Snake’s armour set, an alternate dye for Atsu’s starting gear, a custom horse colour and saddle dye, as well as a unique in-game charm and a striking gold Sword Kit.
Players will also gain early access to Traveller’s Maps, helpful tools for locating hidden statues throughout Ezo that can be used to enhance character skills.
At the pinnacle of the release lineup is the Collector’s Edition – a comprehensive package that goes beyond digital content to offer a rich physical experience. While pricing for Southeast Asia has yet to be announced, this edition includes everything from the Digital Deluxe Edition and all pre-order bonuses, plus a host of meticulously crafted collectables.
These include a to-scale replica of Atsu’s iconic Ghost mask, made of resin and designed for display; a 71-inch fabric sash bearing the names of the Yōtei Six, ready for players to strike off as they progress in the game. Lastly, the Collector’s Edition includes a replica of the Tsuba from Atsu’s katana, forged by her father and adorned with twin wolves, complete with its stand.
Also included is a pouch of coins and instructions for Zeni Hajiki, a traditional game that players will encounter within Ghost of Yōtei. The edition is rounded out by a foldable papercraft ginkgo tree – a symbolic nod to Atsu’s origin – and a set of four five-by-seven-inch art cards depicting the sash, the wolf, Atsu’s mask, and the game’s evocative key artwork.
A New Legend Begins
With its haunting premise, rich worldbuilding, and refined gameplay mechanics, Ghost of Yōtei is shaping up to be more than a worthy successor to Ghost of Tsushima – it’s a bold next step in narrative-driven open-world action. Ezo is a land of contradictions: wild yet spiritual, violent yet beautiful. In the hands of Sucker Punch, it becomes the perfect canvas for a new kind of ghost.
