IKEA STOCKHOLM 2025: Highlights from IKEA Singapore’s latest Scandinavian-inspired collection

When you think of Scandinavian decor, there is none as accessible as IKEA. And here in Singapore, homeowners will get even more furniture options to pick from with the launch of the all-new IKEA STOCKHOLM 2025 collection.

The STOCKHOLM collection first began in 1985, featuring an eclectic selection of classic and elegantly designed furniture meant to represent the company’s identity – founder Ingvar Kamprad even referred to the collection as the “best of IKEA”. After its first launch, there have been six editions of the collection since, with the last one coming in 2017. But this year, it is back again for its 8th edition.

It is a celebration of 40 years of heritage, which is why the IKEA STOCKHOLM 2025 collection is the biggest STOCKHOLM edition yet. Curated by the creative team of Karin Gustavsson, Nike Karlsson, Paulin Machado, and Ola Wihlborg, it features 96 stylish pieces of furniture items across the home. From sofas and coffee tables to lighting and rugs, the collection uses a variety of materials and colours whilst encouraging people to make their own bold combinations.

Most of all, IKEA STOCKHOLM 2025 is all about bringing high-quality furniture to the masses at an affordable price. So, for those looking at incorporating Scandinavian design into your home, let’s take a peek at the highlights from the collection.

Living Room

We begin in the Living Room, the first space you’ll see when you enter your home – so, of course, first impressions here count extra!

For living rooms, almost everyone’s eyes will be drawn to the sofa. It is, after all, the very first place we will look to rest after a long day out. And in that regard, IKEA presents everyone with its STOCKHOLM 2025 sofa (starting at S$1,699).

The STOCKHOLM 2025 sofa

Designed by Ola Wihlborg, it features a minimalist but striking geometric look that makes it the centrepiece of the living room. The sofa’s aesthetic is complemented by the colours available – the relaxing Alhamn beige, the earthy Alhamn dark brown, the bold Alhamn dark turquoise, and the understatedly luxurious Djurmo grey/white. The first three options use a velvet cover, providing a soft touch that nicely illuminates with a light, reflective sheen. However, the Djurmo grey/white is made of Djurmo, which offers a more distinct texture.

The high-quality pocket spring core and cold-moulded foam give the sofa a medium-firm feel, and when you take a seat on it, the sofa adapts to your body to ensure a more comfortable experience.

Perhaps the most unique thing about the STOCKHOLM 2025 sofa is that it is modular. The sofa can be easily separated and reconnected, allowing users to be flexible in how they want to place it within their space needs. Available in two-, three-, and four-seat configurations, you can purchase an additional 1-seat section or pouffe  to let more people enjoy its comfort.

Besides the sofa, another seating option is available in the form of the STOCKHOLM 2025 easy chair (S$499). The chair pays tribute to modern Scandinavian design, featuring bent veneer in birch and woven linen bands to create a chair that looks like no other.

The wide length of the chair provides a decent amount of space to lounge on and the backrest is nicely angled to make things cosy. Most of all the chair is sturdy, with the woven bands easily handling my entire weight.

Dining Area

From the living room, we now move to the dining area – a space where you and guests can get to enjoy the comforting experience of hot food within an intimate setting.

And for every table, there needs to be chairs to accompany it. The STOCKHOLM 2025 chair (S$295) is one that not only will capture the attention of people, but also brings an of elegance to the room. Ola Wihlborg, the designer of the chair, has crafted a unique look for it. Featuring a circular moon-like shape, the design is made to be inviting and warm.

Its frame is built using solid oak, with the lacquered surface bringing out the wood’s natural beauty. For the cushion seat, the foam is covered with genuine grain leather to ensure that users can sit comfortably for extended periods—ideal for when you are hosting friends for a dinner party.

But the dining experience isn’t complete without some form of lighting involved. We aren’t just talking about the glow of the light setting the mood of the room, we are also highlighting how the look of the lamp itself can add to the overall atmosphere.

IKEA introduces its STOCKHOLM 2025 pendant lamp to the lighting mix, with brass-plated details featured on the structure You can choose between two flavours of it. The first (S$249) is a glass-based lamp—light gets reflected through the transparent glass tubes that surround the bulb, in turn creating a classic chandelier visual.

The other (S$99) is crafted with a more subtle design. The pendant lamp uses a textile-covered shade instead of glass tubes, and the light diffuses through it to create a soft and comfy ambience that helps to accentuate dining enjoyment.

Storage

A good-looking home is also all about ensuring that messes are a rarity, that’s why we turn to storage furniture to aid in keeping things nicely organised and tidy. But the best ones are those that can also blend in seamlessly with the decor.

Storage options from the collection begin with the STOCKHOLM 2025 cabinet with 2 doors (S$649). The cabinet has a curiously unique design, with legs propping it up to add height. Users can opt for a traditional Scandinavian look with either the oak or dark brown oak colours, both of which use brushed veneer to provide character to the room. But there’s also a Green variant made with fibreboard that adds a somewhat retro feel.

The cabinet also comes with functional features that you’ll appreciate. The feet are completely adjustable, ensuring that the cabinet stays in place even on uneven floors. It is also equipped with a soft-closing function so that the doors close silently whenever you are putting items inside. Finally, the doors are lockable to keep your things safe, with the included brass key also adding a touch of style to the overall look.

Another storage furniture you may want to consider adding to your home is the STOCKHOLM 2025 sideboard (S$$799).

The sideboard comes with a sleek oak look fit for most homes, with the doors push-to-open-enabled to give a clean visual without the need of handles and knobs. But more exciting is the number of storage opportunities it presents. Inside, the two shelves are accompanied by two drawers that let you place more flat items like table cloths or utensils, making it a great candidate to place within the dining area.

Miscellaneous Items

Beyond furniture, the IKEA STOCKHOLM 2025 collection also has some other items that can add to the decor of your home.

Take, for instance, the STOCKHOLM 2025 vase (S$49.90). This isn’t your typical stoneware vase; the bubble-like design creates an expressive piece that captures the imagination, while also accentuating any plants placed within it.

There’s also the STOCKHOLM 2025 candlestick/tealight holder (S$29.90/2 pieces). Made of solid metal, it is deceptively heavy despite its small size and comes with dual functionality. Whether you place a candlestick or a tealight, you can trust that the holder will ensure that both remain safely snug in its grasp.

Floors also get some love with the STOCKHOLM 2025 rug (Starting at S$399). Lovingly handwoven, the rug adds a burst of vibrancy with its unique patterns. Pick from the various kooky geometric designs, or our personal favourite, the ones which the birch tree pattern—referencing one of Sweden’s native trees.

And best of all, it is now available! The collection can be found online, while physical stores will progressively stock it. If you want to take a peek at the collection in person, the best place to go is the IKEA Alexandra outlet—it features an entire room decorated with furniture and items from the collection.

If that isn’t enough, you can check out IKEA’s socials on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok for more inspo ideas too!
